Job Description Job Title: Electrical Field Service Technician Job Description The Field Service Technician provides on-site and factory-based service support for load banks used in backup power systems for commercial and industrial facilities. This role installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains equipment while documenting all work performed. The position requires strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and frequent travel to customer sites. Responsibilities • Install, commission, and maintain load banks at customer sites in accordance with established procedures and standards., • Troubleshoot and diagnose errors or technical problems using test and diagnostic equipment to isolate malfunctions., • Repair or replace defective units and components as appropriate, ensuring equipment is returned to reliable operating condition., • Perform and document all maintenance activities thoroughly and accurately, including preventive and corrective maintenance., • Conduct equipment and system acceptance testing following established procedures and guidelines., • Provide customer site trainings and safety briefings as needed to ensure safe and proper operation of equipment., • Perform system demonstrations at customer locations and foster positive, professional relationships with customers., • Prepare clear service reports and document the details of issues, actions taken, and resolutions for each customer visit., • Troubleshoot and repair products returned to the factory service center, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic components., • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints to support installation, troubleshooting, and repair work., • Use hand tools, test equipment, and diagnostic tools safely and effectively during assembly, service, and repair tasks., • Collaborate with internal teams to support other field sites and share technical information as required., • Work overtime, non-standard hours, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet customer and business needs., • Travel to customer sites up to 90% of the time, often on short notice, and manage work independently while on the road., • Minimum of 3 years of field service experience, preferably in the power generation or backup power industry., • Demonstrated experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electro-mechanical equipment in the field., • Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, including pneumatics., • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation., • Hands-on experience using hand tools, test instruments, and diagnostic equipment to isolate and resolve equipment malfunctions., • Knowledge of electronic and mechanical assemblies and how they integrate within load bank or similar systems., • Customer-facing experience with strong verbal and written communication skills for training, briefings, and service reporting., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office for preparing service reports, documentation, and communications., • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while managing multiple service tasks in a fast-paced environment., • Willingness and ability to work overtime, non-standard hours, weekends, and holidays as required., • Availability to travel up to 90%, including on short notice and to assist other field sites., • Ability to obtain OSHA 70E certification related to electrical safety., • Experience with load banks, power generation, or backup power systems., • Background in field service roles involving installation, repair, and maintenance of industrial or commercial equipment., • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical safety practices and standards, including OSHA 70E., • Comfort working with pneumatics and other mechanical subsystems as part of larger assemblies., • Strong organizational skills to manage documentation, travel schedules, and multiple customer engagements., • Ability to deliver clear equipment demonstrations and basic operator training to customers., • Adaptability to a diverse, fast-paced training environment with opportunities for cross-training and skill development. Work Environment The work environment combines extensive field work at customer sites with time in a factory service center. You will work with industrial load banks and related electrical and mechanical equipment that are critical to backup power systems for commercial and industrial buildings. The role is highly mobile, requiring travel up to 90%, including occasional weekends, holidays, and non-standard hours, often on short notice. Work in the field involves using hand tools, test and diagnostic equipment, and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints in a variety of customer facility conditions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $33.65/hr.
