Job Description Assistant General Manager (AGM) Growth Track: AGM → General Manager The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is a senior leadership role designed to develop into the General Manager position. This role supports the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations, ensuring seamless alignment between Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) teams while maintaining exceptional standards of service, profitability, and operational excellence. The AGM is expected to demonstrate strong business acumen, including proficiency in P&L management, inventory control, labor optimization, and full-scale restaurant operations. This position balances strategic oversight with hands-on leadership during service and plays a critical role in driving performance, culture, and guest experience. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Operations & Leadership • Partner with the General Manager to oversee daily restaurant operations and ensure consistent, high-level execution across all departments., • Serve as a key operational leader during service, providing floor leadership, guest recovery, and real-time problem resolution., • Align FOH and BOH leadership to ensure consistency in service standards, communication, and execution., • Monitor and analyze financial performance, including P&L statements, labor costs, food and beverage costs, and key performance indicators., • Implement cost-control strategies while supporting revenue growth and operational efficiency., • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting in collaboration with the General Manager., • Maintain and evolve the restaurant’s wine list to complement the cuisine and enhance the guest experience., • Manage the wine cellar, including inventory, storage, and vendor relationships., • Provide confident tableside wine service and pairing recommendations., • Stay current on wine trends and recommend seasonal or special selections., • Lead ongoing wine education and service training for FOH staff., • Recruit, train, develop, and evaluate department managers and key team members., • Provide coaching and mentorship to strengthen leadership capabilities and build a strong internal pipeline for advancement., • Support the development and execution of training programs focused on service excellence, consistency, and operational discipline., • Champion a guest-first mindset, ensuring service, ambiance, and hospitality align with upscale brand expectations., • Handle escalated guest concerns with professionalism, discretion, and effective resolution., • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and labor regulations., • Adhere to all company policies, training requirements, and scheduled meetings., • Maintain a reliable work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays., • Proven experience in restaurant management, preferably within upscale or fine-dining environments., • Demonstrated ability to lead both FOH and BOH teams effectively., • Strong understanding of P&L management, labor strategy, inventory control, and operational systems., • Extensive wine knowledge, including regions, varietals, pairings, and service standards; sommelier certification preferred., • Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills., • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred., • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices., • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment., • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and some holidays., • Valid Food Handler Certificate required., • Valid State Alcohol Server Certification required.Company DescriptionGreat company culture!
