Groundskeeper The Buckley School, Los Angeles' oldest K-12 gender-inclusive learning institution, has an opening for a Groundskeeper. This position responsible for the maintenance of an eighteen-acre campus. This includes a wide variety of grounds keeping and related work including cutting lawns, trimming shrubs and trees, fertilizing, raking and bagging leaves and debris, removing litter, repairing fences, gates, wall and walks and cleaning out drainage ditches and culverts. This position also assists with the setup of tables and chairs for school events and moving furniture and other items on and off campus. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Maintain the landscaping of the campus., • Install new or replacement vegetation., • Install, repair and/or replace irrigation systems and associated components., • Cut lawns., • Trim and edge around walks, flowerbeds, and walls., • Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs., • Spray lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer., • Rake and bag leaves and debris., • Clean ground and removes litter., • Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs., • Water lawn and shrubs., • Repair fences, gates, walls, and walks., • Paint fences and outbuildings., • Clean out drainage ditches and culverts., • Sharpen tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears., • Make minor repairs on equipment such as lawn mower, spreader., • Set up tables and/or chairs in designated areas., • Transport equipment and/or furniture between departments., • High School diploma required., • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos., • Ability to write simple correspondence., • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations., • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals., • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form., • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized, • Models the highest standards of professionalism and creates warm, uplifting and trusting learning environments and working relationships marked by humor, positivity, humility, empathy, excellent emotional intelligence, extraordinary interpersonal skills, and collaboration., • Demonstrates great individual integrity, initiative, self-awareness, commitment to personal and professional growth, and the ability to receive and apply feedback., • Knowledge of and demonstrated competency in diversity, equity and inclusion. The rate for this position is $23.00 - $25.00 per hour. The base salary is separate from fringe benefits, such as retirement contributions, daily lunch, on-site parking, contributions to medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D plans, our generous time off policy, or potential stipends (for eligible employees). Our pay ranges are reasonable estimates of what the School anticipates paying for a role but are not guaranteed. If hired at The Buckley School, your actual base salary will be determined by your education, experience, and schedule.
