Job DescriptionJob Title: Electrician I or IIJob Description We are seeking a dedicated Electrician I or II to join our dynamic team within the departments of Facilities Management and Campus Services. This role demands a commitment to service excellence, embodying values such as dedication, impact, teamwork, creativity, compassion, inclusion, integrity, sustainability, and safety. The position requires flexibility to work various shifts, including potential overtime and call-out work, and the ability to operate effectively outdoors in inclement weather conditions, as well as handle sanitary waste safely. Responsibilities • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrically driven equipment, components, and general wiring, ensuring proper circuit protection with wire and conduit sizes (multi-phase, voltages to 4160)., • Install, maintain, and test switches, panels, and control devices applicable to plant installations., • Troubleshoot and maintain variable frequency drives (VFDs)., • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical panels, ATS, and generators., • Repair, replace, and install LED lighting systems., • Operate on and off-road utility vehicles and light trucks to support assigned work., • Inspect and supervise system equipment operation., • Perform other duties as assigned.Essential Skills, • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with other craft employees and manage challenging customer interactions., • Ability to work independently and make decisions on when additional help is needed., • Understanding of the National Electrical Code and applicable City of Pittsburgh codes., • Ability to work safely near electrical equipment at voltages up to 4,160 VAC using appropriate protective equipment., • Physical mobility to work in confined spaces, ascend and descend ladders, and work from scaffolding and bucket truck platforms., • Capability to lift 40 pounds from ground to overhead and pass a physical exam for clearance to wear a respirator when needed.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Electrician I: High School Diploma or GED, graduation from a technical school, trade school, or electrician apprenticeship program, and a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license or equivalent., • Minimum of three years of recent full-time experience as a journeyman-level electrician., • Electrician II: All requirements mentioned for Electrician I, plus a minimum of four years of recent full-time experience as a journeyman-level electrician., • Current valid Electrician’s License issued by the City of Pittsburgh., • Previous experience in a university or hospital setting is preferred.
