Job Description Position Overview The Assistant Project Manager (Project Engineer) is a key support role within the Project Management team. This position is responsible for helping manage custom architectural millwork projects from award to closeout, working closely with senior PMs, estimators, drafters, shop teams, subcontractors, and general contractors. The APM helps to maintain project schedules, document control, coordination of buyouts, and proactive issue resolution. This is a growth-oriented position ideal for individuals with strong organization skills, a sharp eye for detail, and a desire to learn the millwork trade from the inside out. A strong background in production management within an architectural woodworking environment is essential, and experience with INNERGY software is considered a massive plus. Key Responsibilities • Assist Project Managers in day-to-day management of active projects, • Support project kickoff and internal handoff processes, • Maintain project trackers, schedules, and action item logs, • Coordinate and track submittals, RFIs, and change orders, • Communicate with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to gather information and maintain project flow, • Help manage and document buyout scope including stone, metal, glass, etc., • Participate in weekly project meetings and site coordination calls, • Review and coordinate architectural drawings, shop drawings, and markups, • Follow up with drafting and shop teams on status of release packages, • Assist with preparing field installation packets and punch list follow-ups, • Track production and delivery milestones to ensure alignment with GC schedules, • Promote and enforce company quality, safety, and communication standards Technology & Workflow Expectations As an Assistant Project Manager at CS Architectural Woodworking, you’ll be working within our Innergy ERP platform, the digital backbone of our operation. You will: • Start with a required 6-week minimum stint in the shop to become familiarized with our production processes, • Create, update, and manage project-level documentation and milestones in Innergy, • Use Innergy dashboards to track project health, release statuses, production progress, and delivery coordination, • Collaborate with Estimating, Drafting, Shop, and Field teams through shared digital workflows, • Manage and assign buyout tasks in the system and coordinate vendor documentation Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent industry experience), • 1–3 years of experience in commercial construction or millwork (internships/co-ops count), • Understanding of construction documents and architectural drawings, • Strong verbal and written communication skills, • Organized and self-motivated with a proactive mindset, • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and project management tools (e.g., Procore, Smartsheet, or equivalent), • Familiarity with AWI standards and millwork industry terminology a plus, • Experience with Innergy is a massive plus — but not required.
