Position Summary Reporting to the Head of Brand Strategy, the Copywriter will bring our brand voice to life across a wide range of marketing and customer communication materials, with a strong focus on direct mail and acquisition-driven messaging. This role requires the ability to craft clear, compelling, and strategically structured copy that resonates with current customers while helping us reach new audiences. They must be highly adaptable - shifting between technical, customer-friendly, playful, and brand-forward tones depending on the channel and objective. The Copywriter will collaborate closely with design, marketing, social media, and PR teams to ensure all messaging is aligned, accurate, and on-brand. This role demands strong writing discipline, quick responsiveness, and the ability to manage urgent requests with professionalism and creativity. This role is based in Naperville, IL office. A regular in-office hybrid model (generally Tu - Th in office, M & F remote) is required, as our office environment is a key driver of our company culture and employee experience. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Develop copy for a variety of marketing channels, including direct mail, website content, digital ads, email campaigns, social media, and internal communications., • Create strategically structured messaging that supports, but is not limited to, acquisition, retention, education, and partner communication goals., • Concept and collaborate with the Head of Brand Strategy, Creative Manager and Graphic Designers to ensure copy and visuals work together seamlessly., • Craft and refine brand tone of voice across materials, ensuring consistency and effectiveness for different audience segments., • Write and structure high-performing direct mail pieces, leveraging insights, clarity, and storytelling to guide reader engagement., • Adapt messaging based on demographics, customer needs, and campaign intent while staying within brand architecture and compliance requirements., • Proofread and edit copy for grammar, accuracy, clarity, and tone, ensuring all content meets brand and quality standards, • Support the social media team in developing or refining captions, paid copy variations, content themes, and timely messaging., • Assist the PR team by editing, refining, or adapting press releases and statements to ensure alignment with brand tone., • Respond quickly to urgent or time-sensitive requests - such as website updates, customer notifications, or operational messages - with accuracy and clarity., • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines., • Present copy concepts, rationales, and structural recommendations to leadership and cross-functional partners. We’re Excited If This Is You Experience and Qualifications of the Role • 2+ years of professional copywriting experience, preferably in marketing, direct response, advertising, or brand communications., • Experience writing for multiple formats, including direct mail, digital, social media, email, and website content., • Ability to switch between technical writing, customer-friendly explanations, and creative or playful brand messaging., • Strong understanding of audience segmentation, customer psychology, and tailoring tone to meet different marketing objectives., • Experience collaborating with designers, marketers, and PR teams to develop cohesive, integrated creative work., • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with attention to structure, clarity, and narrative flow., • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines., • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain messaging decisions and articulate creative approaches., • Experience in the home services, utilities, or warranty industry is a plus but not required. The base pay range for this position is $64,515 - $86,600 USD per year. The specific pay offered will depend on qualifications, experience, education and skill set. The compensation offered may also include an annual performance-based bonus, sales incentive plan or commission target.
