Job Summary: We’re looking for a high-level operational thinker to join Brook as our Benefits Investigation Strategic Lead. This role is responsible for translating the day-to-day work of the Benefits Investigation team into strategic action, driving operational improvements, and ensuring that Benefits Investigation efforts align with the broader goals of the Clinic Operations team and executive leadership. The ideal candidate is fluent in healthcare data and workflows, and brings a proactive, systems-oriented mindset to solving problems before they surface. This role is ideal for someone who brings a strong background in healthcare operations or revenue cycle, but is looking for a dynamic environment where they can lead, influence, and build. This is not a heads-down billing position — it’s an opportunity to help architect how the department grows, improves, and contributes to Brook’s mission of care. Requirements: The Benefits Investigation Strategic Lead will serve as the strategic and operational bridge between the Benefits Investigation team and cross-functional leadership. This person will collaborate closely with the Clinic Operations Manager to ensure that payer-side operations (benefits investigation, eligibility, authorization tracking) are tightly integrated with clinic-side workflows and team priorities. This role will work in parallel to support shared goals under the Clinic Operations Director while maintaining distinct ownership of Benefits Investigation department development. Through collaboration with Clinic Operations leadership, this individual will guide the Benefits Investigation team’s growth into a fully developed department while ensuring its alignment with Brook’s broader strategic objectives. They will be responsible for: Strategic Enablement • Identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities in Benefits Investigation processes, • Propose and implement process improvements or tech enhancements, • Summarize findings and updates for departments such as Clinic Operations, Finance, Executive Leadership, • Translate complex data or processes into actionable business terms, • Support or manage Benefits Investigation Manager and Team indirectly or directly, • Develop KPIs and systems to measure productivity and success, • Standardize workflows, SOPs, and knowledge-sharing systems, • Contribute operational insights during planning or workflow refinement to ensure seamless integration between benefits work and clinic partner experience, • Drive the evolution of Benefits Investigation into a scalable department through proactive process design and structural input, • Forecast team growth needs and help define future roles, • Help shape the long-term vision of the department and build infrastructure that supports growth, scalability, and team development, • Serve as an internal subject matter expert (SME) on benefits investigation, payer workflows, and revenue cycle alignment, • Provide hands-on support to the Benefits Investigation team as needed to resolve escalated issues, troubleshoot complex verifications, or assist in training, • Shadow Benefits Investigation workflows and collaborate with the Benefits Investigation Manager and Clinic Operations leadership to continuously identify areas for improvement, • Partner with the Benefits Investigation Manager to develop quality standards, coaching materials, and documentation to elevate team performance Tools/Skills: • Proficient in Excel, Google Sheets, and operational reporting, • Strong understanding of healthcare payers, eligibility checks, and patient financial responsibility, • Experience with RPM, DME, or chronic care billing, • 3+ years of experience in healthcare benefits verification, revenue cycle, or insurance operations, • Comfortable working cross-functionally with relevant departments and leadership, • Understands healthcare benefits workflows and payer/provider dynamics, • Proactive, not reactive — able to pinpoint systemic patterns affecting team productivity or turnaround times, • Exceptional communicator with both technical and executive audiences, • Knowledge of EHR/EMR platforms (e.g., Athenahealth, Epic, or similar) and how benefits workflows interface with clinical systems, • Comfort with basic operational analytics (e.g., Excel dashboards, reporting tools) to surface trends and support decision-making, • Prior work in a healthtech, value-based care, or startup environment where structure had to be built, not inherited, • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen), • Experience designing or optimizing workflows in a healthcare operations, payer coordination, or revenue cycle setting, • High-Impact Role: Own a core growth channel in a sector of healthtech experiencing rapid growth., • Mission-Driven: Join a company that’s improving patient outcomes and transforming the way healthcare is delivered., • Fast-Growing Environment: Thrive in a dynamic, scale-up atmosphere where you’ll have the autonomy to create meaningful change and implement new ideas from day one., • Cutting-Edge Tech: Work with innovative tools and have the freedom to introduce new solutions, including AI-driven approaches., • Fast-paced environment – Brook operates in two of the fastest changing industries in America – Healthcare and Technology. This means no premium payments come out of your pay for Medical, Dental or Vision insurance. Brook also pays 50% of premiums for your spouse or domestic partner’s coverage. If an employee enrolls in the HSA (Health Savings Account)-eligible medical plan, Brook makes an immediate $800.00 contribution to further defray medical costs, i.e. deductibles, Rx copays, office copays. Brook provides a Medical Concierge to full-time employees enrolled in our health insurance to help deal with the headaches that sometimes come along with managing your health care. Mental Healthcare As a supplement to the Medical insurance mental health coverage, Brook provides employees access to three free therapy sessions through Spring Health. Brook has a Flexible PTO (Paid Time Off) plan. No accruals, no number of weeks limit. It is what you and your manager determine to be reasonable. Financial wellness Brook pays for all full-time employees to have Short & Long-Term insurance. If an employee utilizes the Short-Term Insurance, Brook supplements what is covered by the State & the Short-Term insurance so that employees are paid 100% of their salary for the duration of their Short-Term Leave up to 13 weeks. Brook pays for all full-time employees to have life insurance of 1x their salaries up to $250,000. Brook automatically enrolls all part and full time employees in a 401K plan with a match of 50% of your first 2% contributed. We also offer an Emergency Savings Account (ESA). This allows you to save when saving is hard to do with a little help from Brook. If full-time employees make a $1.00 initial contribution, Brook makes a $25.00 contribution.
