Job DescriptionDirect Support Professional (DSP) Full-Time | Sunday–Thursday | 12:00 AM–8:00 AM Position Purpose The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is a valued member of the clinical team who provides compassionate, person-centered support to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and behavioral health needs. DSPs support individuals in building independence, maintaining safety, and achieving their personal, social, and creative goals. Working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, the DSP fosters a supportive, inclusive, and recovery-oriented environment grounded in compassion, hope, service, and collaboration. Key Responsibilities * Support individuals with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meals, and cleaning * Promote independence, self-determination, and quality of life * Provide supervision and guidance to build daily living, social, and independence skills * Support individuals in developing relationships and engaging in community activities * Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment, including creative and artistic expression * Guide individuals in achieving personal, social, and artistic goals * Monitor, respond to, and document crisis situations in accordance with policies and procedures * Administer medications as assigned and document accurately * Transport individuals to approved community activities as needed * Complete all required documentation, including EHR notes, medication logs, incident reports, and daily logs, by the end of each shift * Participate in ISP development, implementation, and outcome tracking * Attend required meetings, trainings, and competency-based education * Collaborate with Lead DSPs, Program Management, and Studio Coordinators to ensure individual needs are met * Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical, safety, and regulatory standards * Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned Qualifications Education & Experience * High School Diploma or GED (required) * Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (preferred) * Minimum 6 months–1 year of direct experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities or in a human services setting * Valid driver’s license with a clean 3-year motor vehicle record * Background in visual and/or performing arts (preferred) Required Skills & Competencies * Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills * Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities and diverse needs * Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles * Strong documentation, organizational, and time-management skills * Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, EHR, and timekeeping systems * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision * Physical ability to meet job demands * Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in high-stress or crisis situations * Willingness to complete all required training, including CPR and First Aid * Ability to facilitate group activities, including art-based programming, social skills development, moderate exercise, and community outings Who we are: Advancing Opportunities, Inc, an affiliate of Apis Services, is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization providing services and supports to people with disabilities and their families so they can live independently.
