Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician supports a busy manufacturing plant by performing routine and preventive maintenance on production machinery and facility systems. This role focuses on keeping equipment running smoothly, diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, and assisting with major equipment overhauls as part of a collaborative maintenance team. Responsibilities • Perform routine preventive maintenance on production machinery to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation., • Diagnose mechanical problems on equipment using hand tools, control instruments, and established troubleshooting methods., • Carry out mechanical maintenance and repairs on motors, pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, valves, and other production equipment., • Assist the maintenance team with equipment overhauls, contributing to disassembly, repair, and reassembly as needed., • Perform facility maintenance and repairs on infrastructure and utilities as required to support plant operations., • Inspect equipment regularly to identify wear, potential failures, and opportunities for improvement., • Use appropriate tools, instruments, and parts to complete repairs in a timely and accurate manner., • Follow safety procedures and best practices while working on mechanical systems and facility equipment., • Collaborate with other technicians and production staff to minimize downtime and maintain efficient workflow., • Maintain basic documentation related to maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs as needed. Essential Skills • At least 3 years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment., • Hands-on experience working with pumps, valves, gearboxes, bearings, and conveyors., • Proven ability to perform facility repairs and general facility maintenance., • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues., • Experience using hand tools and control instruments for maintenance and repair work., • Capability to assist with equipment overhauls as part of a maintenance team., • Ownership of basic tools needed to perform mechanical maintenance tasks., • Experience in oil and gas or food industry environments. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in maintenance technician roles within industrial or manufacturing settings., • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and routine maintenance schedules., • Familiarity with plumbing-related maintenance tasks., • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented maintenance environment., • Comfort working around process equipment such as skids, evaporators, and similar industrial systems. Work Environment This role is based in a large manufacturing plant that produces krill oil and operates similarly to an industrial oil and gas shop, with equipment such as skids, evaporators, and related systems. The facility includes a large refrigeration unit, and you may work in a cold environment for up to approximately one hour per day. The plant environment includes a noticeable fish oil odor, so comfort working around strong production-related smells is important. Standard food-grade production hygiene practices apply, including wearing a hair net and beard net as required. The position follows a day shift schedule of 10-hour days, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
