Job Description Position Overview: Amerivet Contracting is seeking an experienced and detail-focused Construction Project Manager to support construction operations across a diverse range of commercial projects, including public works, federal contracts, and emergency response work. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of experience project managing for a general contractor, with a proven track record on projects ranging from $1 million to $15 million in value. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of assigned commercial and public works projects ranging from $1 million to $15 million in value, under the direction of a Senior Project Manager. This role manages project coordination, cost control, scheduling, subcontractor oversight, and public agency compliance while directly overseeing a Project Engineer and Project Coordinator. This role is critical as we transition from a specialty subcontractor into a full-service general contractor. Key Responsibilities: Project Management & Execution • Manage assigned projects from preconstruction through closeout., • Develop and execute project plans aligned with contract documents and agency requirements., • Coordinate closely with Superintendents to align field operations with project schedules., • Monitor project progress, milestones, and deliverables., • Identify and mitigate risks related to scope, schedule, cost, and compliance., • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) including schedule adherence and cost performance., • Support preconstruction handoff and project startup activities., • Directly manage, mentor, and support a Project Engineer and Project Coordinator., • Delegate responsibilities related to RFIs, submittals, document control, and cost tracking., • Review work product for accuracy, completeness, and compliance., • Provide coaching and feedback to support team development., • Foster collaboration between office staff and field leadership., • Assist with contract review, scope clarification, and administrative requirements., • Oversee RFI development, tracking, and responses., • Manage submittal workflows, approvals, and documentation., • Track change order requests, pricing, and approvals., • Maintain organized and up-to-date project files., • Ensure documentation meets owner, agency, and internal standards., • Track project budgets, job costs, and forecast projections., • Monitor cost trends and identify potential overruns early., • Review subcontractor pay applications for accuracy and compliance., • Review vendor invoices and ensure proper coding and approval., • Assist with change order pricing, negotiation, and documentation., • Support monthly owner billing and progress payments., • Support subcontractor buyout and procurement processes., • Coordinate subcontractor onboarding, documentation, and compliance., • Manage subcontractor performance related to scope, schedule, quality, and safety., • Facilitate subcontractor coordination meetings., • Track material procurement, long-lead items, and delivery schedules., • Address subcontractor issues and escalate as needed., • Lead or participate in owner, agency, subcontractor, and internal meetings., • Prepare meeting agendas and follow-up action items., • Communicate schedule updates, risks, and changes clearly and timely., • Support public agency coordination and reporting requirements., • Utilize construction management platforms (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, scheduling software) for:, • Document control, • RFIs and submittals, • Cost tracking and reporting, • Daily logs and photo documentation, • Ensure accurate and timely data entry by project team members., • Support implementation and improvement of standardized general contractor processes. · Collaborate with internal team (accounting, labor compliance, etc) to obtain and provide needed information for proper contact execution • Work closely with estimators, construction project team, and leadership to ensure alignment on strategy and resource allocation., • Lead post-construction debriefs to collect “lessons learned” and inform future project management decisions., • Perform other duties as assigned to support the department or leadership team. Required Qualifications: • Minimum 7 years of experience in construction project management or project engineering., • Proven experience project managing commercial and public works projects between $1M–$15M in value., • Demonstrated expertise in public works, federal contracts, and emergency services., • Must have strong working knowledge of prevailing wage laws, Davis-Bacon wage determinations, and labor compliance documentation. • Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and construction project management software., • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and project sequencing., • High competency in reviewing plans, specs, addenda, and all bid documents., • Familiarity with California Building Codes, bid bonding, and contractor licensing requirements., • Ability to analyze detailed budgets, breakdown project costs, and evaluate subcontractor quotes., • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills., • Established trade partner relationships in the Southern California region. Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field., • PMP or CAPM Certification, • ICC Certification (International Code Council) preferred., • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus., • Experience training and developing junior staff.
