American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Saint Louis, Missouri. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 04/06/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Apr 6, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Work on a 22-bed Med/Surg Intermediate (Stepdown) unit in an inpatient hospital setting, • Patient population includes respiratory failure, ETOH, overdose, GI bleed, electrolyte imbalance, COPD, and cancer diagnoses, • Respiratory-heavy unit with frequent use of tracheostomy, ventilator, vapotherm (VAPO), and BiPAP equipment, • Patient ratio is 1:3–4, • EMR is Epic, • Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, • Every other weekend required, • No on-call requirements, • Floating required as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit, • 13-week assignmentRequirements, • Active RN license valid in Missouri (MO state license or compact license meeting MO eligibility criteria) required at time of consideration, • Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) required — no expiring certifications within the first 30 days of assignment unless renewal documentation is provided, • Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient stepdown experience required, • Trach and vent experience required, • Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs not accepted), • No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 monthsAdditional Information, • Performs direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation across all age groups, • Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes, • Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, significant bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance; ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. and pinch up to 15 lbs., • High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids, • Night shift orientation takes place on day shift — traveler must be available the full orientation week, • Black scrubs required, • The facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center, • Flu vaccination (or Mercy-approved exemption) is required for travelers working between November 1 and April 1 — declinations are not accepted, • RTO of up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request is permitted per assignment With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
