Mission The mission of the Beta Academy SPED Coordinator is to manage the SPED program with excellence, support a culture of “joyful rigor”, and develop scholars and leaders who can contribute on a community, national, and international level. Outcomes * Meet Student Growth Performance Standards • Recognized: 55% of scholars meet or exceed expected growth, • Exemplary: 60% of scholars meet or exceed expected growth, • Master: 70% of scholars meet or exceed expected growth 2. Meet Compliance Goals • 100% of Transfer ARDs are conducted within the timeline., • 100% of Initial evaluations are completed within the timeline., • 100% ARD meetings held for newly identified scholars or DNQs., • 100% of Annual ARDs are conducted within the timeline., • 100% of Three Year re-evaluations are conducted within the timeline., • 100% of compliance for Child Find procedures., • 100% of cyclical audits earn an “A” or “B”., • 100% of audit files are up to date., • 100% of identified scholars are serviced., • 100% of service logs are completed and submitted weekly., • 100% Participation in LPACs for dually identified scholars., • 100% of progress documentation completed. 3. Meet Special Pops Service Goals • 90% Satisfactory on Parent/Scholar Surveys, • 90% Satisfactory on Staff Climate Survey Role Based Competencies • Organization & Planning, • High Standards, • Openness to Feedback and Ideas, • Proactivity, • Efficiency, • Communication, • Team Work, • Attention to Detail, • Problem-Solving, • Emotional Intelligence, • Flexibility/Adaptability Beta Culture Competencies • Joy, • Culture of Honor, • Courageous Conversations, • Integrity, • High Standards, • Creativity Job Responsibilities • This job description outlines the primary responsibilities expected, though it does not encompass every task necessary to ensure our special populations scholars receive all required services., • Serve as the campuses representative for special needs scholars; effective management, supervisory, team building, and problem-solving skills., • Lead professional development for principals and teachers and ensure data-driven interventions to meet the diverse academic needs of scholars., • Promote and maintain a positive and effective school climate by ensuring that all interactions with staff, scholars, parents, and the public at large are prompt, efficient, helpful and friendly., • Maintain open lines of communication regarding special services with all interested parties; respond to concerns of parents, teachers, and administrators., • Work with school staff to manage reporting and data tracking for the Special Education programs., • Remain current on rules set forth in special population law and regulations., • Ensure ARDs, FIEs, and Reevaluations are in compliance with timelines., • Ensure quality, compliance, and accuracy of information in IEPs, paperwork, and SuccessEd., • Schedule services for Special Education scholars (OT, PT, VI, etc.), • Implement and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures., • Ensures procedural safeguards are met., • Responsible for ensuring delivery of all of the services prescribed in the individual education plans of special population., • Supervise the completion of progress documentation (service logs, progress reports, collection of work samples, grades in gradebook, etc.), • Supervise that Progress Reports are sent home in a timely manner., • Collaborate with general education teachers and administrators to provide staff training in Special Education strategies and use of accommodations to assure appropriate assistance., • Collaborate with campus administration to ensure ongoing identification and documentation of Special Education scholars., • Plan the necessary time, resources, and materials needed to support general education teachers in assisting scholars with accomplishing all IEP goals., • Update SPED Scholars spreadsheet after each ARD with current schedule of services., • Ensures IEPs are updated in Skyward., • Supervise implementation of accommodations and ensure grades are accurate., • Work closely with the 504 Coordinator regarding scholars that may be in the referral process., • Cover responsibilities in the absence of a Special Education Teacher., • Attend Success Meetings for all scholars served under Special Education., • STAAR Testing Accommodations ready two months prior to testing and update as ARDs are being held., • Conduct Middle and End-of year observations for Special Education and Dyslexia Teachers., • Provide Compensatory Services and/or Extended School Year Services (ESY) during the summer., • Provide Homebound Services., • Attend LPAC Meetings for dually identified scholars., • Attend all staff meetings called by school or division administration., • Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO, CAO, EDSP, and Charter School Principal. Training & Testing Management • Schedule staff development training and follow state requirements with adherence to school standards, timelines, and procedures., • Oversee ordering test material, verify shipments, and coordinate with curriculum check-in processes., • Create structure for test days and collaborate with staff for successful implementation such as yearly STAAR., • Leads/or participates in ARD meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required from TEA., • Support needs and materials for the purpose of meeting scholar needs while complying with District and/or program guidelines. (LPAC, TELPAS, STAAR Accommodations, etc.)., • Supervise and observe all special population instructional practices in the school, including coaching and mentoring directly or through other staff and/or professional development programs., • Serve as campus resource person and trainer for all campus staff to support scholars with disabilities. Staff Leadership Responsibilities • Seeks out and participates in educational and professional development and motivates and encourages such developments for staff., • Recognizes problems and impediments and assists with constructive resolutions., • Ensuring a professional and college preparatory climate across the campus., • Develop and supervise mentoring opportunities within the school., • Provides leadership in supporting the continuous campus improvement processes., • Assists in the development of community and strategic partnerships., • Pursue the vision and execute the mission of the school., • Provide a safe and clean environment for learning., • Adheres to and enforces board policy, school guidelines, and administrative directives., • Works with and assists faculty in the development of effective classroom discipline and organization., • Read and comply with the Procedures Manual, Employee Handbook, Scholar Handbook and Scholar Code of Conduct., • Establishes and maintains professional and cooperative working relationships with all stakeholders: parents, scholars, staff, neighbors, and partners., • Promotes and maintains a positive and effective school climate by ensuring that all interactions with staff, scholars, parents, and the public at large are prompt, efficient, helpful and friendly. Professionalism & Communication: • Demonstrate professionalism by being in regular attendance and arriving on time to work, staff meetings, tutorials, cafeteria duty, parent nights and other assigned duties., • Complete required training on time., • Work cooperatively to create an atmosphere of unity among the school community and refrain from gossip, negativity and unsupportive comments., • Demonstrate professionalism at ALL times. Exercise wisdom by remaining calm, respectful and non-defensive during parent meetings, disagreements, and personal attacks., • Utilize professional communication with strong grammar, syntax, usage and/or spelling skills during phone conversations, personal conversations, emails, and social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. Refrain from attacking others, fighting, or engaging in controversial subjects on social media. Apply this standard of dress to social media posts in regards to modesty in dress and action (ex: swimsuit, cleavage, & shirtless pictures, in addition to posts with alcohol, cigarettes and bars etc.)., • Regularly communicate to parents about scholar achievement levels, class behavior, assigned homework, academic needs, and any concerns., • Check staff email a minimum of three times daily during normal working hours and check teacher in-box daily and commit to read updates, notes, and employee notices in a timely manner.Other duties/ responsibilities:, • As a Beta Academy team member, you must be able and willing to participate in all dance/ stomp productions throughout the academic school year. Minimum Qualifications: • Required Special Education Certification with the State of Texas., • Masters Degree preferred, • Minimum of five years of SPED teaching experience required.
