Job DescriptionSalary: $165,000 - $200,000 About the Organization Liberty Dogs is a premier service dog training program whose goal is to empower Veterans with disabilities to lead more independent and fulfilling lives - enhancing their well-being through the unconditional support that Liberty Service Dogs provides. Located on a 27-acre campus, it includes a training facility, dog housing, an administrative and multipurpose building, and accommodations for Veterans staying on campus to train with their Liberty Service Dogs. Position Summary The Senior Director, Security & Safety is responsible for the day-to-day security and safety of the campus, employees, veterans, dogs and visitors. This leader will oversee and lead the campus security team, manage all safety protocols and emergency response systems, and establish a culture of vigilance, professionalism, and service. As both a protector and ambassador for the organization, the Senior Director will integrate best-in-class safety and security practices while modeling Liberty Dogs values of honor, excellence, respect, and outcomes. This role reports to the VP of Operations. The successful candidate will be more than a security professional; they will be a guardian of Liberty Dogs mission and values. This leader will combine technical expertise with emotional intelligence, ensuring the campus is not only safe but also welcoming and inspiring. They will never compromise on safety, but will also embody empathy, and professionalism, ensuring that every interaction reflects Liberty Dogs commitment to Veterans, their families, and the community. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Culture • Lead, train, and inspire the security team to uphold a culture of safety, respect, and customer service., • Serve as a role model and ambassador for the Liberty Dogs brand, representing professionalism, integrity, and service at all times., • Ensure daily rounds and inspections of all entry points, locks, and security hardware., • Oversee access controls for all facilities and maintain clear protocols for employees, Veterans, vendors, and visitors., • Monitor and maintain all surveillance, alarm, and communication systems., • Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive emergency response and evacuation plans covering scenarios such as fire, flood, severe weather, and active shooter incidents., • Incorporate canine safety into all emergency protocols., • Develop and manage security staffing schedules to ensure 24/7 coverage, including during events, holidays, and absences., • Prepare and distribute department SOPs, timely reports, including weekly incident reports and trend analyses, as well as department documentation., • Oversee service contracts, vendor relationships, and RFP processes for all security services., • Maintain compliance with all safety regulations, codes, and best practices., • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a senior security role, preferably within a hospitality, security, or nonprofit campus environment., • Experience with working with surveillance systems, • This role requires the ability to prioritize workflows, has strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask., • Proficiency in office software (Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, etc.)., • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills and demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability and service., • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion., and highly organized, and able to prioritize multiple responsibilities and respond effectively under pressure., • Candidates must successfully pass a background check, possess a valid drivers license with a clean driving record., • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate a 24/7 operation. Position Requirements Mental Demands • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment., • High level of alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail., • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to think clearly and act quickly under pressure., • Demonstrated self-discipline, motivation, and sound judgment, especially when handling confidential information., • Effective reading, writing, and comprehension skills to follow both written and oral instructions. Physical Demands • Frequent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, stair climbing, and occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching., • Ability to transition quickly between sedentary tasks (e.g., surveillance monitoring) and active duties (e.g., vehicle or foot patrol)., • Capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds., • Physically able to assist in emergency situations when needed., • Able to maintain an appropriate work pace and respond quickly to critical incidents., • Must work effectively in varied environmental conditions (heat, cold, rain, uneven terrain, day/night)., • Manual dexterity and coordination to operate radios, open/secure gates and doors, manage keys, and use computers and touchscreen devices., • Sufficient visual acuity to monitor surveillance, read license plates and ID documents, and detect irregularities., • Adequate hearing ability to respond promptly to alarms, radio traffic, and verbal communications.
