Job Description ABOUT THE COMPANY American GI Forum - National Veterans Outreach Program is a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to establish and maintain a comprehensive community service agency with a diversified funding source serving the needs of Veterans, their families, and other individuals of the community who are in need. SUMMARY The Janitor will perform a variety of building cleaning tasks to keep the facility dirt free and sanitized. It is essential for the janitor to be thorough in cleaning and maintaining the premises in a sanitized manner. The ideal candidate for this position is detail-oriented, flexible and willing to take a non-routine cleaning and special projects as the need arises. The Janitor will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing offices, meeting rooms, bathrooms, center cafeteria, lunchroom and all other facility areas. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES NOTE: These job duties are not all-encompassing of the responsibilities and duties (or other terms) that are required of the employee and may change at any time with or without notice. • Remove garbage from all trash bins daily., • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping and waxing floors., • Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks, and restock soap dispensers., • Wipe mirrors, windows, doorknobs, rails, elevators to sanitize the areas., • Maintain outer premises by watering plants, cleaning entrances, • Maintain the supply and equipment needed for cleaning duties., • Meet with the supervisor to make timely requests for items needed to perform the cleaning duties., • Dust furniture and other office items., • Must be familiar with the safety requirements of cleaning products. High school diploma or GED, at least 2 years of work experience in cleaning buildings. Ability to work well under minimal supervision. Must be able to complete supply orders to replenish cleaning products. JOB REQUIREMENTS • Must have access to reliable transportation, • Must always have a current Texas driver’s license, • Must always have applicable automobile liability insurance, • All personnel of the organization must be bondable, • Must be able to work independently., • Must be able to walk the facility of over 35,000 square feet, lift heavy mops, large bags of trash, and pick up large buckets of water. Primarily local during business day although some out-of-area travel may be expected via airline or automobile based on the discretion of management. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly be required to bend, lift, walk, and carry items. Physically capable of lifting and/or moving objects up to 75 pounds as necessary.
