Harvest Home Farmer’s Market provides low-income communities with access to farm fresh local produce and the education to achieve healthier lifestyles. We operate 14 seasonal markets (June – November) in low-income communities in the Bronx, Upper Manhattan, and Brooklyn. JOB SUMMARY: Community chefs will work in the preparation of plant-based recipes featuring local produce and delivery of nutrition education at 14 Harvest Home farmers’ markets. This opportunity offers a great hands-on learning experience for those interested in working with health and wellness improvement in NYC, particularly in underserved communities, in addition to valuable networking opportunities. RESPONSIBITIES AND DUTIES (include but are not limited to): • Conduct cooking demonstrations with nutrition education information at assigned farmers’ market(s) • Maintain food safety throughout the food demonstrations. • Distribute nutrition education materials, communicate clearly to participants. • Complete all tracking and data collection and submit in a timely, organized manner. • Maintain close communication with Harvest Home staff to maintain appropriate levels of supplies and necessary ingredients and materials for weekly recipes. • Participate in team meetings and trainings, including mandatory pre-season training in June 2024 QUALIFICATIONS: • Current Food Handler certification or successfully completed a NYC Food Protection Course. (If needed: complete NYC Food Protection Course online for $24.00 dollar fee) • Basic knife skills and ability to execute basic cooking techniques • Experience or training in nutrition or community cooking demonstrations/workshops. • Ideal candidates will have knowledge about regionally-grown fruit and vegetables – including growing seasons/patterns and culinary applications. • Dynamic personality and excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills • Ability to work in multi-cultural settings with racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity • Willing and able to stand for long periods of time working outdoors • Does not shy away from the heat/cold or wind/rain (we cannot emphasize this enough!) • College coursework in nutrition and/or food studies preferred • Willingness to travel throughout New York City • Ability to speak other languages is a plus! Overview The New Media and Digital Design (NMDD) program at Fordham University is seeking a Part-Time Faculty to teach two sections of a Creative Coding course using p5.js in the Fall 2024 semester. The Fall 2024 semester at Fordham University begins on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, and the two sections meet at the following times: - Section 1: Mondays 2:30PM - 05:15PM - Section 2: Mondays 6:00PM - 08:45PM Teaching takes place in person at the university’s Lincoln Center (Manhattan) campus. A pre-existing syllabus is available for use by instructors. The existing syllabus (open to change) focuses almost entirely on the use of p5.js to learn basic coding concepts such as variables, loops, graphics, analyzing sound data, u5, using ml5, etc. In addition to this class time, instructors are required to hold regular weekly office hours (which can be held remotely). Class enrollment sizes typically range from 15-35 students. Part-time faculty at Fordham University are represented by Fordham Faculty United, part of the SEIU Union. Job Description Power Core Coaches lead clients through 45 minute classes. Coaches should have a background in barre, Pilates, yoga, HIIT, and/or Megaformer based classes and should be able to learn the language and position terminology used in the Lagree method. Coaches should have high energy, understand the Megaformer machines and be able to teach unique classes every time, while still being rooted in the core elements of class. Classes are intense and intimate (max 12 people), designed to allow our coaches to deliver each client with personalized attention and accountability in a group environment. Music, messaging and style should maintain the vibe of the studio, keeping guests inspired and motivated to truly do their best and push their limits! All instructors should come with a background with the method, but will undergo comprehensive training. No previous Hebrew experience is necessary to be part of the Sprout Brooklyn community. Full job description Rooftop Films is looking for Stagehands to take a crucial role in the production of our Summer Series film festival, taking place May through August 2024 at outdoor locations throughout NYC. Stagehands transport, install, operate, and troubleshoot audio, visual, and lighting equipment for Rooftop Films’ Summer Series outdoor screenings. Under the supervision of our AV technicians, PAs aid in the assembly of our outdoor AV exhibition systems and are primarily responsible for the transportation and setup of equipment, including our outdoor movie screens. Stagehands meet at our offices in Gowanus, Brooklyn for load-out and transportation of equipment to the site for setup or arrive on-site to work through the run of show, concluding with load-in at the end of the night. Because we screen in all 5 boroughs and occasionally out-of-state PAs should be prepared for a variety of work environments. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Pulling and packing equipment in an organized and efficient manner from our shop into vehicles. Safe transportation of equipment to venue. Assist Lead Technician, Audio Engineer and Projectionist with the staging and setup of A/V equipment. Assembly and disassembly of fast-fold and inflatable screens. Recovery and organization of equipment at end of night, including the return of vehicles. Qualifications: Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, as well as a willingness to drive cargo vans, 14’, 16′, and 21′ box trucks. Ability to lift 25 lbs independently and to safely lift 50 lbs with assistance. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Adaptable to a flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends. Familiarity with professional audio/visual technology and equipment a plus. This includes digital projection, analog and digital video signal routing, inflatable and folding projection screens, and sound reinforcement. Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, and remain flexible under pressure. Willingness to play a fluid role as part of a small, tight-knit team, balancing professionalism and a great sense of humor.
