Job Description The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) is actively recruiting experienced and dedicated professionals to serve as Correctional Facility Administrators, overseeing facility operations at various locations throughout Alabama. SALARY INFORMATION • Level I = $69,012.00 - $116,179.20, • Level II = $74,296.80 - $125,304.00 BENEFIT HIGHLIGHTS Health Insurance, 14 paid holidays, State of Alabama Retirement POSITION DUTIES A Correctional Facility Administrator plans, administers, coordinates, and reviews the security, treatment, and administrative programs of a correctional facility in the State of Alabama. This leadership role is critical to the ADOC's ability to fulfill its overarching mission of providing public safety through the safe and secure confinement, rehabilitation, and successful re-entry of offenders into society. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Security & Inmate Management • Ensure institutional security through strict adherence to facility protocols, emergency response plans, and disciplinary procedures., • Oversee inmate classification, housing assignments, and facility movement to maintain order and safety., • Manage specialized security programs, including Strategic Threat Group (STG) intelligence and contraband interdiction initiatives., • Plan, implement, and oversee a coordinated correctional program for multi-custody inmate populations., • Direct daily facility operations, ensuring compliance with ADOC policies, state and federal regulations., • Recruit, train, and oversee facility staff, including correctional officers, administrative personnel, and support teams., • Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and leadership development among facility personnel., • Develop and manage the facility budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and fiscal responsibility., • Lead facility response to disturbances, escapes, natural disasters, and other emergencies., • Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans and crisis management protocols., • Promote and oversee education, vocational training, and reentry programs to support inmate rehabilitation., • Ensure access to healthcare, mental health services, and substance abuse programs., • Serve as the primary representative of the facility, engaging with ADOC leadership, law enforcement agencies, legal entities, and community organizations., • Ensure effective communication with staff, inmates, and external stakeholders regarding facility operations, policies, and programs. Level I • A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university; and, • A minimum of six (6) years of experience as a correctional officer; and, • A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university; and, • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a correctional officer; and, • A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university; and, • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a correctional officer; and, • Additional education and/or experience above that which is minimally required, may be substituted on a year for year basis., • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead large teams in a high- stress environment., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, inmates, and external stakeholders., • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in crisis, • Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to corrections and inmate, • Applications must be submitted to the Alabama Department of Corrections.
