Job Details Head of Electrical Systems Location: Birmingham, AL (55–65% onsite with travel to active project sites) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Head of Electrical Systems to lead the electrical strategy and execution for a rapidly growing portfolio of mission-critical modular products. This executive-level leadership role is responsible for driving electrical system architecture, manufacturability, deployment consistency, operational performance, and long-term product scalability. This is an ideal opportunity for a technically strong electrical engineering leader who has successfully led complex electrical systems from concept through manufacturing, deployment, and commissioning while building and developing high-performing engineering teams. You'll work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Construction, Program Management, and Executive Leadership to develop standardized, repeatable electrical systems that support large-scale, mission-critical environments. Key Responsibilities Own the electrical systems strategy and execution for a major product line. Drive electrical system performance, reliability, cost optimization, manufacturability, and margin improvement. Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary electrical team, including Project Managers, Electrical Designers, Manufacturing SMEs, and Construction Leads. Influence electrical architecture, power distribution strategies, grounding systems, lighting controls, panelization, and mission-critical infrastructure during product development. Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing, repeatability, field deployment, and long-term operational performance. Partner with Supply Chain and Manufacturing Engineering to standardize components, improve sourcing strategies, and reduce deployment variability. Support electrical integration within modular and prefabricated manufacturing environments. Lead commissioning, startup, field deployment, and continuous improvement initiatives. Develop structured feedback processes that convert field experience into future product improvements. Collaborate with executive leadership to establish long-term electrical technology strategies supporting scalable business growth. Required Qualifications 12+ years of experience leading electrical engineering within commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or high-reliability environments. Proven success owning complex electrical systems from design through manufacturing, deployment, and commissioning. Experience leading cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, construction, and operations teams. Strong knowledge of: o Electrical power distribution o NEC and NFPA codes o Grounding and bonding systems o Switchgear o UPS systems o Generator systems o Utility coordination o Mission-critical electrical redundancy Experience reviewing electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, specifications, and technical documentation. Strong understanding of commissioning strategies and operational readiness. Demonstrated leadership experience developing and mentoring engineering organizations. Experience managing budgets, cost performance, and margin improvement initiatives. Excellent communication, collaboration, and executive presentation skills. Preferred Qualifications Data center or mission-critical infrastructure experience. Experience with prefabrication, modular construction, or advanced manufacturing environments. Strong background driving standardization, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. Professional Engineer (PE), Master Electrician, or comparable technical leadership credentials.
