Job DescriptionWe're looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and experienced paralegal to play an important role on our legal team. You'll draft legal documents such as affidavits, prepare briefs, conduct legal research for trial preparation, and keep case files and other important information neatly organized and easily accessible. If you're interested in advancing your paralegal career with opportunities for growth, we want to hear from you.Compensation: $43,000 - $60,000 DOE Responsibilities: • Prepare legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings such as complaints, interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits, under the supervision of a lawyer, • Arrange law office activity such as drafting subpoenas and coordinating with process servers, • Organize our case filing systems to ensure all documents are properly sorted and easy to locate, and other administrative duties as needed, • Help lawyers prepare for trial by preparing and organizing exhibits, assisting with client meetings, filing motions, conducting research on legal articles, and organizing and coordinating witnesses, • Gather information about legal issues from the client in interviews, • Prepare cases involving removal defense, family immigration, employment immigration, asylum, naturalization, and crime victim visas (with strong attorney and administrative support), • Independently and proactively manage high volume caseload in a fast-paced environment including document review, preparation, and filing of immigrant petitions with USCIS, EOIR & NVC, • Communicate both orally and in writing with individual and corporate clients, as well as government agencies, • Monitor deadlines and expiration dates, follow office procedures and attorney directions, • Manage client communication and government correspondence, • Provide exceptional customer service, • Work directly with the team of attorneys and partners to ensure the highest quality of legal representation for clients, • Take on special projects and other duties as assigned Qualifications:, • Strong preference for candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have an advanced paralegal education, • Must have great time-management skills, and organizational skills, • Candidates must have completed an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree preferred, • At least 3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting, • Must have strong interpersonal skills and talent for writing and grammar, • Bilingual English-Spanish strongly preferred, • Demonstrated commitment to immigrants' and civil rights issues, • Strong desire to develop professionally within the firm and in the immigration legal community, • Highly detail-oriented and proactive, • Works well under pressure and understands the importance of deadlines, • Strong communication skills – on the phone, via email, and in person, • Professional and courteous; positive attitude, • Self-starter; quick learner; impeccable ethics About Company We are a nationally-renowned and growing immigration law firm with excellent training, mentorship, and growth opportunities.
