This position is responsible for developing and executing social media strategies that support product launches, brand campaigns, community engagement, retailer partnerships, and overall business objectives. The Social Media Manager partners closely with Community, Marketing, Creative, Influencer, PR, Product Development, and external partners to create compelling content that inspires, educates, and connects with our global community. This role oversees content planning, creation, publishing, reporting, and performance optimization while ensuring every piece of content reflects the innovation, artistry, inclusivity, and authenticity that define Danessa Myricks Beauty. Role OverviewReporting to the Director of Community, the Social Media Manager will lead day-to-day social strategy, content creation, publishing, and performance reporting across Danessa Myricks Beauty's owned channels. This role sits on the Community team and works closely with Creative, Influencer, and Marketing to ensure social supports broader brand and business priorities. This is a role for someone who is equal parts creative, strategic, and hands-on — a true maker who can develop platform-native content strategies, shoot and edit content themselves, write in a sharp brand voice, and deliver clear analytics. You'll work directly with the Director of Community to bring the brand's social vision to life, bringing your own creativity, taste, and instincts to every piece of content you touch. The ideal candidate has deep beauty industry experience, is genuinely fluent across TikTok and Instagram, understands how creator-led content drives growth, and has a strong instinct for cultural moments that keep brands relevant. Job Duties:Social Strategy & Content Planning: • Collaborate closely on DMB's social strategy across Instagram (Feed, Reels, Stories) and TikTok, developing platform-specific approaches and content plans that drive audience growth, strengthen brand affinity, and keep DMB culturally relevant., • Build and manage evergreen, campaign, and launch content calendars in partnership with Creative, Influencer, and cross-functional teams., • Develop ongoing content series and original social-first concepts for campaigns, product launches, evergreen moments, and cultural opportunities., • Define channel-specific content strategies and continuously optimize performance based on audience behavior, platform trends, and business priorities., • Monitor the competitive landscape, platform shifts, and emerging trends - and bring proactive recommendations to the Director before being asked.Content Creation & Production:, • Create, capture, edit, and publish engaging content across Instagram and TikTok this is a hands-on production role., • Shoot content in our in-house studio, on set during campaigns, and in the field at events and activations., • Edit video and photo content natively for each platform - you know the difference between a TikTok edit and a Reel, and you execute accordingly., • Write captions, hooks, and on-screen copy in DMB's brand voice with consistency and intention across all formats., • Develop social-first content plans that support innovation launches, hero campaigns, retailer priorities, and community moments., • Brief the creative team clearly and proactively - translating social strategy into actionable direction with platform context, format specs, and campaign objectives., • Identify opportunities to maximize content output through creator partnerships, community activations, events, and existing brand assets., • Capture or oversee BTS content opportunities during shoots and activations as needed., • Champion experimentation with new formats, storytelling approaches, and platform-native creative concepts., • Travel to events, activations, and shoots to produce content on the ground.Publishing & Channel Management:, • Manage day-to-day scheduling, publishing, and channel management across all brand social platforms., • Ensure all content is properly formatted, captioned, tagged, and optimized per platform best practices before it goes live., • Maintain a consistent publishing cadence across all channels., • Ensure all social activity reflects DMB's brand voice, values, and community-first Approach.Community Engagement:, • Partner closely with our Community Manager on day-to-day engagement strategy - aligning on brand voice, response frameworks, escalation protocols, and community insights., • Foster meaningful conversations with consumers and strengthen community participation and advocacy in partnership with the Community Manager., • Keep a pulse on conversations happening in the DMB community and across beauty culture - surfacing relevant signals, trends, and consumer feedback to the Director and broader team., • Engage thoughtfully with brand-adjacent content, creators, and cultural moments in a way that reflects DMB's personality and values.Analytics & Reporting:, • Own weekly, monthly, and campaign-level social performance reporting across platforms., • Track and report on KPIs including reach, engagement, follower growth, saves, shares, and content performance by format and platform., • Translate performance data into clear, actionable insights and content optimization recommendations for the Director., • Analyze content effectiveness and provide ongoing recommendations to improve engagement, awareness, and business impact., • Monitor competitor social presence and emerging platform behaviors and bring relevant learnings to the team.Cross-Functional Partnership:, • Partner closely with Creative, Influencer, Community, Marketing, and PR teams to ensure strong integration across all brand initiatives., • Collaborate with the Influencer team to support creator content amplification, gifting moments, and campaign coordination across owned channels., • Act as a key connector between content, community, creators, and brand storytelling - ensuring social reflects and supports everything the brand is building., • Build systems and ways of working that improve team efficiency, content quality, and cross-functional alignment. Qualifications: • 3+ years of experience in social media, content creation, or related functions - beauty experience preferred., • Proven track record developing social strategies and managing multi-platform content calendars with consistent, measurable results., • Hands-on content creation skills - you shoot, direct, and edit your own content and are comfortable doing it in-studio and in the field., • Deep platform fluency across TikTok and Instagram: you understand the algorithm, the formats, and how people actually consume content on each., • Experience briefing a creative team - you can translate a social idea into a brief a designer or video editor can actually execute., • Strong copywriting instincts with the ability to write in a consistent, on-brand voice across all content formats., • Excellent taste level and a strong understanding of best-in-class beauty brand building on social., • Strong analytical mindset - you know what the numbers mean and can translate them into a clear, actionable point of view., • Highly organized with exceptional project management skills; comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution., • A natural collaborator who communicates proactively and keeps stakeholders aligned without being asked., • Proactive, self-directed, and solutions-oriented - you bring ideas, flag issues early, and solve problems before they escalate., • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, lean environment where ownership is expected and ambiguity is part of the job., • Familiarity with social scheduling and analytics platforms ( Dash Hudson, CreatorIQ or similar)., • Understanding of TikTok Shop and social commerce strongly preferred., • Willing and able to travel for events, activations, and shoots.
