The Development Associate, Institutional Giving plays a key supporting role on NYSCI’s advancement team, which raises more than $6 million annually to sustain NYSCI’s mission. This position provides comprehensive administrative, database, and research support for the team’s efforts to secure funding from foundation, government, and corporate donors. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Institutional Advancement (SVP), the Development Associate will manage gift entry and reporting, support grant and sponsorship proposal development, coordinate stewardship activities, assist with funder communications, and assist with coordination of special events and engagement activities related to foundation, corporate, and government relationships. The role offers a valuable opportunity to gain broad-based fundraising experience while contributing to NYSCI’s impact in STEM education. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Gift Processing & Database Management • Administer NYSCI’s Raiser’s Edge NXT database, including all gift entry, funder record maintenance, and reporting requirements., • Process gifts and generate timely funder reports and receipts., • Prepare mailing and funder lists, activity reports, and data to support fundraising goals., • Work with IA leadership and the finance department to maintain development department financial records and generate financial reports. Proposal & Reporting Support • Assist in the preparation of foundation, corporate, and government grant proposals as well as corporate sponsorship packages, including researching background information, drafting components of proposals and reports, and coordinating internal data points., • Support development of interim and final reports to funders, ensuring timely and accurate submissions. Research & Meeting Preparation • Support efforts to conduct prospect research and prepare background materials for senior leadership and frontline fundraisers., • Collaborate with the CEO's Executive Assistant on various development and Trustee-related activities., • Support cross-departmental efforts to align fundraising initiatives with NYSCI’s priority programs and strategic goals. Job DescriptionPosition title: Development Associate/Clerical III Department: Development Reports to: Associate Director of Donor Engagement FLSA Status: Full-time, Non-exempt Grade: Union Position Description: The Development Associate plays an active role in the administration of the Major Gifts, Individual Giving, and Special Events program including donor/prospect appeals and acknowledgments, gift processing and tracking, data management, and event administration. They will be part of a 15-person department that is responsible for raising approximately $7+ million in annual operating support from a variety of funding sources. This position reports to the Associate Director of Donor Engagement and works closely with the Donor Engagement Coordinator: Major Gifts. They will also work with other department staff to support fundraising efforts in other areas as needed, with additional assistance given to special events including larger fundraising and smaller donor cultivation events.
