As a PRN physician on our team, you will provide patient care, physician oversight and expertise, and continuity for our clients and teams. You would cover planned time off for our salaried physician team and potentially be available for urgent coverage needs. The Longview Acute Care Facility opened in December 2023 as a collaboration between Larimer County and SummitStone Health Partners - we provide comprehensive, collaborative, and multidisciplinary care for behavioral health and substance use across the lifespan. We have a 24/7 Behavioral Health Urgent Care, an Observation Unit, and four additional units (56 beds) serving adolescents and adults for either crisis stabilization or withdrawal management. This role involves conducting thorough psychiatric evaluations, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing psychotherapy or medication management to help patients cope with issues such as suicidal ideation, depression, psychosis, mania, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, substance use, and behavioral problems. The physician will work closely with patients, their families, our advanced practice providers, and an interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and positive outcomes for each patient. Role Overview: Responsible for providing direct professional services in the evaluation and treatment of clients in both the inpatient residential and outpatient environment at a community mental health center. The primary focus of this position will be mental health; substance use and physical health as it relates to clients. Essential Duties: • Function as the medical team representative to a multidisciplinary treatment team designed to offer comprehensive behavioral health services., • Evaluate clients for mental health, substance use and medical disorders, determine the appropriate course of treatment for the clients., • Provides direct client care centering the voice of the client in an inpatient and outpatient setting., • Diagnose, manage, treat, and prescribe medication for a variety of acute and chronic illnesses with an emphasis on substance use and mental health., • Assesses client health by interviewing clients, performing physical examinations, reviewing medications, and reviewing medical histories., • Interprets and evaluates client data to determine client management and treatment options., • Institute emergency measures and emergency treatment or appropriate stabilization measures., • Documents client care services by charting client and department records., • Instruct and counsel clients by describing therapeutic regimens, providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living, promoting wellness and health maintenance., • Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing client management plans., • Attend committee meetings, staff meetings and inter-agency meetings as required., • Participate in on call coverage schedule on a rotating basis, • Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited university., • More than three years of experience working in a related field required., • Understanding and commitment to medications for addiction treatment and harm reduction principles required., • DEA Certification required., • License to practice medicine in the state of Colorado required., • More than two years of experience in treating and servicing persons with substance use and mental health needs preferred., • Strong understanding of substance use treatment and knowledge of withdrawal management processes preferred., • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be evaluated and considered., • Valid Colorado driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record required SummitStone will take into consideration a combination of an applicant’s education, training, skills, experiences, and other job-related information and how relevant those are to SummitStone’s needs, aspirations, organizational priorities, and the evolving needs and delivery of services to the community that it serves.
