Job Description Job Title: Low Voltage Technician Job Description The Technician I - Fiber is responsible for all aspects of fiber installation, including but not limited to installing, terminating, testing, and splicing. The role requires basic copper termination skills and involves installing work area outlets for floors, modular furniture, and walls, along with mounting faceplates and surface mount boxes. Responsibilities • Install, terminate, test, and splice fiber optics., • Terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, and mount faceplates and surface mount boxes., • Build closets by mounting and installing backboards, cross-connects, racks, patch panels, and fiber optic hardware., • Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cables as required, completing all IDC connections., • Perform testing, continuity tests on horizontal and riser cables using a volt-ohmmeter., • Troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cables., • Install LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA, and MPO/MTP connectors for both multi-mode and single-mode fiber., • Terminate simplex and duplex jumper cords, and terminate & breakout outside plant (loose tube) fiber., • Install fan-out kits including buffer tubes., • Calculate end-to-end loss budgets in accordance with TIA/EIA standards for multimode and single-mode fiber., • Test and troubleshoot using an OTDR to identify and correct problems end-to-end and network-wide., • Perform mechanical and fusion splicing with all types of fiber cables., • Proficiency in fiber optic cabling, cable tray installation, and cable pulling., • Strong ability to pull cables through pathways, terminate, and test copper cables (Cat 5, Cat 6)., • Experience in pulling fiber and installing cable trays, ladder racks, j-hooks, and rack assemblies., • Ability to assist Tech 2, run and handle materials, and utilize hand/power tools., • OSHA 10 certification., • Confined space training/certification., • Work at a high-tech manufacturing site where safety is the top priority., • Join a team that values safety and precision in a high-tech manufacturing environment.
