DIVISION LEADER / OFF-SITE LEAD ROLE & KEY TASKS As a Division Leader / Off-Site Lead, you report to the Camp Director and Assistant Directors and serve as a key on-site leader for both campers and staff. You oversee a division of 3–4 camper groups (approximately 10–15 campers per group) and directly support 6–8 counselors. This role is highly active and hands-on, requiring you to be present throughout the camp day, support smooth transitions, and help ensure each group in your division is safe, organized, and engaged. You are responsible for supporting daily operations within your division, including camper supervision, group management, and real-time problem solving. You help address camper needs, manage behavior with empathy, and maintain a positive and structured environment where campers feel supported and confident. By staying visible and approachable, you play an important role in shaping the daily camper experience and reinforcing camp routines and expectations. You also serve as a primary coach and mentor to counselors in your division, providing guidance on group leadership, camper engagement, and communication strategies. Working closely with the Camp Director and Assistant Directors, you help align your division with overall camp goals, support special events and off-site supervision, and model Kids in the Game’s core values through your leadership, teamwork, and commitment to an inclusive and joyful camp culture. The Division Leader / Off-Site Lead works closely with the Camp Dierctor and Administrative AD to manage aspects of the logistics required to travel to nearby parks, swim facilities, and field trip locations (around NY and NJ). This includes: busing to field trips and swim facilities, planning travel and transportation routes, collecting and reviewing permission slips, managing and purchasing tickets, camper and staff supervision during off-site activities and events, maintaining health and safety protocols and managing risk factors, as well as being the point person for vendor communication & relationships. LOCATION, DATES & TIMES We currently have an opening for a Division Leader / Off-Site Lead at our Westchester day camp.Address: Westchester-Crestwood - 465 Westchester Ave, Tuckahoe, NY 10707Dates: June 22, 2026 - August 21, 2026Times: 7:45am - 4:15pm; after care until 5:30pm twice per week You must be able to arrive by 7:45am daily via public transportation or personal transportation (car) and stay on-site until 4:15pm daily (and until 5:30pm twice per week to support after care activities). Look for ways to strengthen your division’s culture and daily flow.Inclusivity: Ensure every camper feels welcomed, supported, and able to participate fully, regardless of background, identity, or ability.Camp Experience & Division ManagementOversee daily camper supervision, behavior support, and group transitions within your division.Address camper concerns and conflicts proactively, using youth development best practices.Maintain daily notes and communicate camper updates to Assistant Directors and Camp Directors as needed.Foster a team-oriented, respectful environment among campers and staff.Serve as a primary supervisor for your division on off-site trips in collaboration with the Off-Site Assistant Director.Programming & Special Events SupportAssist Assistant Directors with the execution of weekly themes, special events, and division-level activities.Support activity setup, transitions, and modifications as needed.Collaborate with camp leadership to ensure smooth daily schedules and special programming days.Develop and lead “Team Time” games and division-based bonding activities.Safety, Compliance & SupervisionEnsure all park, trip and swim experiences meet Department of Health standards and Kids in the Game safety procedures.Check on park safety daily - landscape, the public around the area, transition routes, required permits. Conduct regular visits during the week to the park to make sure safety standards are being met by the rest of the camp staff. Maintain appropriate staffing ratios (1:5) at all times and reassign staff as needed to close gaps.Conduct pre-trip safety checks (materials, headcounts, meds, waivers, consent forms, emergency contacts, buddy system).Monitor weather, route changes, and partner communication to make real-time safety decisions.Lead staff huddles before and after each off-site experience to reinforce expectations and reflect on improvements.Support in leading staff training on emergency response, first aid procedures, and appropriate camper management techniques.Respond to behavioral, medical, or environmental incidents calmly and effectively; communicate outcomes with families and leadership.Maintain a culture of psychological safety—ensuring every camper and staff member feels physically and emotionally secure.Logistics & OperationsOrganize and confirm the daily and weekly transportation plans (bus, subway, walking routes).Provide training to other camp staff on off-site travel procedures (buddy system, headcounts, Rule of 3, call and responses, staff placements, etc.).Review safety and supervision procedures prior to all on-site travel with the campers and staff through daily meetings and all-camp rallies.Work with Counselors to ensure that campers understand the safety procedures required for being at the park, swimming and locker rooms, field trips and large outings, etc.Maintain accurate and updated group rosters and consent forms for park travel, open swim and swim lessons, and field trips.Confirm pre-purchased tickets/reservations in advance; confirm headcounts with partners and purchase additional tickets as needed.Prepare trip packs (contact lists, meds, attendance sheets, emergency docs, incident report sheets).Coordinate swim groups by pulling accurate rosters, changing room transitions, and ratio coverage.Communicate off-site travel plans and relevant tasks proactively to the staff and Camp Director for a smooth rollout. You will help to promote the camp and answer parent questions at these events.Leadership/All Staff/Camp Site Specific TrainingsDivision Leader / Off-Site Lead TrainingsSessions starting in Late MayAttend training specific to DL duties depending on your role at campCamp staff must attend a series of scheduled orientations/trainings. These trainings will be held between the dates of Late May and June 24th, which will include 3 full days of on-site training. Training specifics will be sent at a later date. Please keep these weeks free (including weekend days) so that you can attend the sessions.You will be expected to attend and support all of the on-site training days.Trainings include:Leadership Kick Off All Staff Meet & GreetAD / DL / Specialist Workshops Core Training Workshops On-Site Training (in-person)3 Days before camp - TBDCPR/First Aid/AED Trainings (4 hours)Participate in scheduled CPR/First Aid/AED training. These are required for all Division Leaders SUMMER WORK EXPECTATIONSLate June to August:There is an expectation for you to work for the agreed upon employment dates. If there are any days you may need off during this time, they must be approved by the People & Culture Department before the summer starts. Weekly Camp Schedule:On-Site Monday to Friday7:45am to 4:15pm - Camp Leadership are expected to be at camp before your support staffCamper hours are 9:00am to 3:30pm, with children being dropped off between 8:15-9:00am and picked up between 3:30-4:00 pm Aftercare Rotation Expectations:Division Leaders are expected to support at least 2 days per week of aftercare. Camp Directors will create a rotation schedule pre-summer that works for all camp staffAftercare runs from 4:00 to 5:30pmOnly on aftercare days you will work 9:00am to 5:30pmThe rest of the team will be expected to all work one day per week of aftercare. SEASONAL COMPENSATION STRUCTURE This is a part-time, seasonal position based in New York City. Assistant Directors must be available to work part time from Late April - June (range of 8-15+ hours per week) to complete pre-summer work expectations. Division Leaders must be available to work full time from late June to the end of August to oversee camp operations.Monthly stipends & Pre-Summer Training StipendEnd of May to June: $200 pre-summer stipendDivision Leaders only receive the full pre-summer stipend in May if they complete required milestone expectationsRates will be prorated depending on progressIn addition you will receive a training bonus for for June Pre summer training stipend: $375$120 for virtual trainings and $180 for all 3 on site training days$75 for an in person field day in JuneTraining attendance is mandatoryYou must complete all virtual and in-person trainings Missed sessions or absences will result in a prorated training payment Summer Compensation: Pay Schedule: Biweekly salary payments from late June - August 2026Westchester-Crestwood camp location will run for 7 weeksTotal salary range based on 8 weeks of summer camp:$650 to $800 per week 8 week camp salary range (without the training stipend)$5,200 to $6,400Total salary range based on 7 weeks of summer camp:$650 to $800 per week 7 week camp salary range (without the training stipend)$4,550 to $5,600Rates are based on camp enrollment (number of campers per week) and prior years of experience in similar roles and prior Division Leader experience RequirementsDIVISION LEADER / OFF-SITE LEAD QUALIFICATIONS Our ideal Division Leader candidate:A candidate who is truly Amazing with children!Being DOE or DOH fingerprinted is a plusUp to date Physical and TB test documentation will be required before startingPossessing knowledge of another language on top of English is a plusYou must pass a NY State run background checkBeing CPR, First Aid and AED certified is a plusPossess at least 2+ years of experience working with campers required; experience leading recreation programs/activities; experience leading groups of varying sizesPossess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, participants, parents and caregiversPossess the ability to communicate effectively and in a timely fashion with participants, families and caregivers, both verbally and non-verballyDemonstrates practical problem solving skills in a variety of situations.
