Our mission is to enable individuals and families to reach their full potential in body, mind, and spirit, using evidence-based counseling and educational services. Services offered by WTCG include individual therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma, premarital counseling, couples and family counseling, veteran services, children's play therapy, and anger management. Position Overview The Zero Suicide Therapist plays a vital role in advancing WTCGs commitment to suicide prevention and crisis response across West Texas communities. This position provides compassionate, community-based mental health services to individuals experiencing suicidal ideation, severe depression, and other acute mental health crises, ensuring timely access to high-quality, evidence-informed care. As a core member of the Zero Suicide program, this therapist not only delivers crisis-focused interventions but also helps expand access to ongoing, non-crisis behavioral health services. Responsibilities include providing individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy, as well as psychoeducation, all within the clinicians scope of practice. This role supports continuity of care and promotes long-term recovery and resilience among clients. The Zero Suicide Therapist also serves as an ambassador for WTCGs suicide prevention efforts through active participation in community partnerships, including the Tom Green County LOSS Team and the Concho Valley Suicide Prevention Coalition. Through these collaborations, the therapist contributes to a coordinated, community-wide approach to suicide prevention, postvention, and mental health awareness. WTCG is committed to supporting professional growth by offering no-cost training and clinical supervision for LMSW, LPC-Associate, and LMFT Associate licensees. Key Responsibilities Clinical Services • Provide evidence-based, ethical clinical services adhering to accepted standards of practice, • Assess, diagnose, and treat clients for a minimum of 30 hours per week, • Conduct risk assessments for harm to self or others; engage in safety planning and referrals as appropriate, • Provide compassionate care to clients of all socioeconomic and educational backgrounds, • Empower clients within their natural support systems and make referrals to other services as needed, • Participate in monthly Concho Valley Suicide Prevention Coalition meetings, • Volunteer with the Tom Green County LOSS Team as a mental health professional (up to 2 standby weekends/month, with substitution available for personal loss), • Support community suicide prevention outreach, including trainings such as Talk Saves Lives, as time permits, • Assist with marketing, fundraising, and public relations efforts as requested, • Abide by licensure requirements, code of ethics, and scope of practice at all times, • Maintain professional licensure and liability insurance, • Comply with HIPAA and the Texas Medical Privacy Act (Texas Health & Safety Code, Chapter 181), • Attend required trainings, including CBT, CBT-SP, and CAMS, • Record sessions as requested for training and competency evaluation purposes Qualifications Required • Graduate or doctoral degree in a clinically relevant discipline with current Texas licensure (LMSW, LPC-Associate, or LMFT Associate), • No prior counseling experience required; experience in crisis mental health services preferred, • Knowledge of community resources and social services, • Familiarity with identification and reporting requirements for abuse, neglect, or exploitation of children, elderly, or persons with disabilities, • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function effectively as part of a team, • Ability to work independently with strong time management skills and minimal supervision, • Proficient in basic computer skills including data entry and related software, • Valid Texas driver's license, reliable transportation, and insurability, • Must pass a comprehensive background check, • Commitment to obtaining training in suicide prevention and crisis intervention upon hire, • Demonstration of clinical competence in at least one specialty area (e.g., ACT, Gottman, EMDR, CPT, RPT) within 2 years of hire Preferred • Bilingual (English/Spanish), • Veteran, • Licensed Social Worker (LMSW) Physical Demands & Work Environment • Work is performed primarily in an office environment using standard office equipment., • Requires extended periods of sitting and computer use., • Frequent use of hands for typing, filing, and handling office materials., • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds., • Ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone Benefits: Paid Holidays Health, Vision, & Dental Insurance Life Insurance AD&D Insurance Paid Time Off (PTO) 403(b) Retirement Plan Options Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Statement West Texas Counseling & Guidance (WTCG) is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
