Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: The Machine Shop Manager oversees all day-to-day operations of the machine shop, ensuring production goals are met safely, efficiently, and with high quality standards. This role manages personnel, equipment, scheduling, programming, and shipping activities while utilizing the ERP system to plan, track, and optimize workflow. The manager is responsible for driving continuous improvement, maintaining KPIs, and ensuring on-time delivery of customer orders. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Oversee all machine shop operations, including CNC machining, manual machining, and secondary processes., • Ensure machines, tools, and equipment are properly maintained and operating safely., • Manage building and facility needs related to the shop floor., • Use SyteLine ERP to create, update, and manage job orders, routings, BOMs, and schedules., • Plan and schedule production to meet deadlines, optimize capacity, and reduce bottlenecks., • Monitor job progress and adjust schedules as needed to ensure on-time delivery., • Supervise machinists, operators, leads, and support staff., • Assign daily work tasks, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards., • Conduct training, coaching, and performance evaluations., • Manage staffing levels, timecards, and attendance., • Oversee CNC programming team to ensure accurate and efficient G-code programs are created., • Coordinate with engineering/programming to support new product introduction and continuous improvement., • Manage the shipping and receiving team to ensure proper packaging, labeling, and documentation., • Ensure shipments go out on time and meet customer specifications., • Maintain high-quality standards and ensure compliance with company procedures., • Work with quality department on non-conformances, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions., • On-Time Delivery (OTD), • Throughput / Job Completion Rate, • Machine Utilization & Uptime, • Scrap Rate / Rework Rate, • Schedule Accuracy & Capacity Planning Efficiency, • Labor Efficiency (earned hours vs. actual), • Setup Time Reduction, • Experience with SyteLine (Infor CloudSuite Industrial) strongly preferred; experience with other manufacturing ERP systems such as Epicor, SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Plex, or similar will be considered.”, • 5+ years of experience in a machine shop leadership or supervisory role., • Strong working knowledge of CNC machining, tooling, and shop floor processes., • Experience managing scheduling, production planning, and workflow optimization., • Ability to lead multiple departments and manage cross-functional teams., • Strong problem-solving, organization, and communication skills.
