Job DescriptionJob Title: CNC Operator II/III Job Description This role operates CNC Haas mills and related equipment to produce high-quality parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will set up and run CNC machines, perform basic manual operations, and use precision measuring tools to ensure parts meet dimensional and quality requirements. The position requires attention to detail, a strong focus on safety and quality, and the ability to work efficiently in a production setting. Responsibilities • Operate CNC Haas mills, including vertical milling machines, using Fanuc controls and RoboDrills to produce parts to specification., • Load and unload parts into CNC machines, ensuring correct orientation, secure fixturing, and adherence to setup instructions., • Perform outside operations such as manual drilling, deburring, and other secondary processes using drill presses and hand tools., • Use electric drills to perform drilling and tapping operations on products according to engineering drawings and work instructions., • Secure fixtures and workpieces to T-plates using a torque wrench or similar tools to ensure safe and stable setups., • Follow standardized work and lean manufacturing practices to maintain efficient, repeatable production processes., • Utilize calibrated precision measuring instruments such as calipers, depth gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, and other dimensional inspection tools to verify part conformance., • Conduct dimensional inspections during and after machining, documenting results and taking corrective action when parts deviate from specifications., • Read and interpret basic shop documentation, including work orders, setup sheets, and written instructions, to complete assigned tasks., • Apply basic math skills to calculate dimensions, verify measurements, and support accurate setups and inspections., • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including machines, tools, and inspection equipment, in line with 5S and lean principles., • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of machinery and tools., • Collaborate with team members, leads, and support staff to troubleshoot issues, improve processes, and meet production goals., • Adapt to repetitive production work while maintaining focus on producing good parts and consistent quality., • Participate in continuous improvement activities aligned with lean manufacturing and lean Six Sigma concepts.Essential Skills, • Experience operating CNC mills, preferably Haas CNC machines, in a manufacturing or production environment., • One year of experience performing machine operation with a Haas CNC or relevant equivalent experience preferred., • Ability to operate vertical milling machines and related CNC equipment using Fanuc controls., • Proficiency in basic machine operation, including loading parts, securing fixtures, and running production jobs., • Ability to read and write at a High School diploma or equivalent level to follow written instructions and complete departmental paperwork., • Basic math skills to support measurements, calculations, and interpretation of dimensional requirements., • Ability to use calibrated precision measuring instruments such as calipers, depth gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, and other dimensional inspection tools., • Experience performing dimensional inspection to verify part conformance to specifications., • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices in a production environment., • Understanding of lean Six Sigma concepts as applied to manufacturing and process improvement., • Comfort working in a repetitive production setting rather than a job shop environment., • Commitment to safety, quality, and producing good parts consistently.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • High School diploma or equivalent education., • Hands-on experience with Haas mills, RoboDrills, and Fanuc controls., • Experience using drill presses, electric drills, and other manual equipment for drilling and tapping., • Ability to perform deburring and other secondary operations to meet finish and quality requirements., • Familiarity with using a torque wrench or similar tools to secure fixtures and workpieces., • Exposure to lean manufacturing and lean Six Sigma initiatives, including standardized work and continuous improvement., • Comfort working overtime and flexible schedules, including occasional weekend availability., • Strong attention to detail and ability to learn new processes and setups., • Willingness to work in a structured, high-volume production environment.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a production manufacturing facility that operates on multiple shifts and regularly approaches 50 working hours per week, with optional Saturday work available for those who want additional hours. There are multiple openings on first and second shift, including a first shift running approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and a second shift with a 2:15 p.m. start time. The facility uses CNC Haas mills, vertical milling machines, RoboDrills, Fanuc controls, drill presses, electric drills, and calibrated precision measuring instruments such as calipers, depth gauges, thread gauges, and pin gauges. The environment is a high-volume, repetitive production setting rather than a job shop, with standardized processes and a strong focus on safety and quality. You can expect a typical industrial dress code, including appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment suitable for a machining and manufacturing environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.75 - $25.00/hr.
