Vice President of Engineering – Design Engineering / Industrial Facilities / Business Development / Site Development: Manufacturing Facilities / Warehousing / Logistics / Food Processing – South Chicago, Atlanta, North Houston, North Charlotte, Phoenix (#4973) Join a highly respected and successful 30+ year employee-owned EPC / GC firm in a key leadership role as the VP of Engineering. The selected candidate will work in one of the following locations: South Chicago, Atlanta, North Houston, North Charlotte, and Phoenix. The selected candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership for all engineering functions within the Design-Build organization. This role ensures engineering excellence, technical accuracy, constructability, innovation, and compliance while supporting project execution, estimating, and business development. The VP of Engineering collaborates closely with executive leadership, operations, project management, outside engineering resources, and clients to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and timely construction solutions. Responsibilities: • Direct and develop the engineering division, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement • Establish and maintain engineering standards, procedures, and best practices aligned with company goals, • Provide strategic input on project delivery methods, risk mitigation, and technical innovation, • Develop and execute the engineering strategy in alignment with company goals and long-term growth plans, • Develop and execute staffing plans including new candidate interviews and performance management, • Provide executive-level engineering oversight for all projects, ensuring constructability, efficiency, and compliance with codes, regulations, and client requirements., • Ensure constructability, value engineering, and cost-effective design solutions, • Review and approve engineering plans, specifications, calculations, and technical submittals, • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, safety standards, and contract requirements, • Evaluation of existing building conditions and guidance to resolve engineering challenges, • Partner with Operations and Project Management to support successful project execution, • Resolve complex technical issues and field engineering challenges, • Support schedule development, sequencing, and logistics planning, • Provide technical leadership during preconstruction, construction, and closeout phases, • Actively pursue, support, and develop new clients and project types, • Support estimating, proposals, and bid reviews with technical input and risk assessments, • Lead client meetings, interviews, and presentations as a technical leader, • Assist in pursuit strategy, scope development, and pricing, • Development of project specific engineering teams for proposals and project design, • Establish and enforce quality control and quality assurance processes, • Identify and mitigate engineering and construction related risks, • Oversee engineering audits, peer reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives, • Work closely with Safety and Field Teams, • 6+ years in senior engineering leadership or management roles, • Demonstrated management and business development experience, • Demonstrated site development experience, • Proven experience managing large, complex projects, • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, • Experience with Design-Build delivery and industrial projects, • Experience with staff management and corporate leadership., • Demonstrated ability to manage internal and external multidisciplinary teams, • Strong financial, risk management, and value engineering acumen, • Strong and broad technical knowledge of multiple disciplines, • Able to travel, typically 15% to 40%, • Ability to work in both office and field environments, • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Architectural, Electrical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering
