Job Description Company Overview: Southern Fibernet Corp. is a rapidly growing digital television distributor and internet service provider based in Atlanta, Georgia. We provide fiber optic services to several counties in Georgia and Florida, as well as digital TV services directly to our internet customers and multiple business partners nationwide. We are seeking a highly motivated, problem-solving Support Tech Lead / Senior Support Engineer to expand and lead our technical support team. This role involves providing advanced systems administration support to ensure smooth operations for our TV partners and internal systems. Role Overview: This is a dual-focused role combining Leadership and hands-on system administration. The chosen candidate will: • Lead day-to-day operations of the technical support team, • Manage, maintain, and support Linux-based servers and related infrastructure, • Provide system-level technical support for IPTV, internet services, and internal IT services, • Collaborate with partners to optimize local channel ingest, encoding, and delivery, • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with Linux servers, networking, video encoding/transcoding, caching, and content delivery, • Assist in automating server maintenance and improving operational efficiency, • Support deployment of new partners’ TV services and maintain ongoing infrastructure, • Participate in on-call rotation for technical platform and partner support, • Document all incidents, outages, and administrative procedures Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Partner Support • Lead the technical support team for TV and IT partners, • Refine and redevelop support workflows to scale with customer growth, • Provide high-level customer support and system troubleshooting, • Build, manage, support, and maintain Linux-based systems (Debian, CentOS, etc.), • Manage user accounts, groups, services, backups, restores, and recovery, • Perform change control and system upgrades, • Troubleshoot Linux server issues, network performance, and application problems, • Assist with server documentation and ongoing system monitoring, • Test and implement new Linux versions on-demand, • Support IPTV video ingest, transcoding, distribution, and caching, • Collaborate with partners to optimize channel acquisition and delivery, • Familiarity with video codecs (AVC, HEVC, VP9, AV1) and on-the-fly transcoding, • Maintain multi-site content distribution network operations, • 5+ years Linux System Administration experience, • 3+ years experience with Ansible or other automation tools, • Experience with Linux-based VPN clients, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, filesystems, and authentication, • Proficiency with *nix command line tools, • Basic understanding of IP network principles (switching and routing), • Skilled communicator (verbal and written) with excellent customer service skills, • 2–5 years of Team Lead or Supervisor experience, • Experience providing business-level technical support, • CompTIA A+, Network+, Linux+, or equivalent certifications, • Experience with video encoding, decoding, and on-the-fly transcoding, • Understanding of network OSI layers, particularly Layer 3 and application layer traffic, • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication with team members and partners, • Operational Skills: Proficiency in building, maintaining, and automating servers, • Analytical Skills: Ability to identify problems, determine causes, and provide solutions, • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in documentation, procedures, and systems, • Intelligence & Learning Agility: Quickly absorbs new information and technologies, • Planning & Organization: Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple responsibilities
