Unit Notes – Clinical Support Unit (RN Float Pool) Department: Float Pool | Role: Registered Nurse Float Pool Overview • Units Included:, • Emergency Department (ER) – Boise, Meridian, Nampa, • Meridian: busiest ER in the state, no trauma, • Boise: receives pediatric trauma, • ICU – 2 ICUs in Boise; 1 each in Meridian & Nampa (Nampa typically lower acuity), • Med/Surg – All units in Boise, Meridian, Nampa (6 units total), • Telemetry – All units in Boise, Meridian, Nampa (4 units total), • L&D / Postpartum, • Boise: L&D, Mother Baby, • Meridian: L&D, Postpartum, • Nampa: LDRP, • NICU – Boise, Meridian, Nampa (travelers generally assigned feeder/grower patients), • Floating Expectations:, • RNs will only float within their specialty and will never float to a lower acuity level., • Can float to any facility as a 1:1 sitter., • May float mid-shift at any time if needed., • All facilities are within ~20 minutes of each other via interstate; safe parking at all.Nurse-to-Patient Ratios, • ER: 1:4, • ICU: 1:1–2, • Med/Surg: 1:5, • Telemetry: 1:4, • Pediatrics: 1:3, • NICU: 1:4Certification Requirements, • BLS: Required for all RNs, • ACLS: Required for ER, ICU, and TelemetryExperience Requirements, • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience, • Previous travel experience required, • L&D travelers: Highly prefer antepartum and mother–baby experienceDrips & Titration, • Units requiring titration:, • ICU, ER, Tele, Med/Surg, PICU, • Common drips:, • Med/Surg: insulin, • (Additional specifics pending from unit managers)Staffing & Support, • Charge Nurse: Present on every unit, every shift, • Assist.
