Summary Description Under the supervision of a Project Manager or Line Clearance Superintendent, responsible for trimming and clearing trees and vegetation from power lines to prevent electrical outages and maintain public safety Duties and Responsibilities Essential: • Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M safety policies and procedures., • Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M employment policies and procedures including standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the Company., • Effectively manages the requisition, storage and safeguarding all equipment, tools and vehicles., • Utilizes a variety of tools including but not limited to, chainsaws, pole saws, and pruners to ensure clearances meet utility safety standards., • Prunes or removes branches, trees and vegetation within proximity to electrical lines., • Follows best practices to ensure tree health and maintain aesthetics where possible., • Conducts site inspections to identify hazards and assess the safest approach to trimming tasks., • Operates equipment, including bucket trucks, woodchippers and various hand and power tools., • Performs routine equipment checks to ensure that tools and machinery are safe and functional. Job Requirements Skills/Education: • High school education or equivalency; post high school education desirable but not required., • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in tree trimming industry., • Minimum of one (1) year of tree climbing experience., • Herbicide and trimming certifications preferred or ability to obtain., • Thorough understanding and knowledge of company safety and personnel policies and procedures., • Working knowledge of all equipment associated with line clearance activities including aerial lifts, chainsaws and woodchippers., • Knowledge with electrical and voltage hazards., • Basic knowledge of trees including identification, growth habits and correct arboriculture techniques for the trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining and removing, as applicable to working close to energized conductors., • Excellent communication skills., • Basic knowledge of construction drawings and electrical schematics., • Ability to work with other construction and high voltage trades., • Must be confident, decisive, self-motivated., • Must be able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends)., • Must maintain a valid drivers license.
