Summary The Accounting Manager provides direct support to the Director of Finance with bookkeeping, financial reporting, financial analysis, tax preparation, and corporate records and registrations. Applies principles of accounting to analyze information and prepare financial reports by performing a variety of duties such as maintaining the general ledger, reviewing financial statements, assisting with audits and the budgeting processes, and reconciling accounts. Manages accounting professionals such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing and Collections. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits., • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures., • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports., • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts., • Analyzes and verifies information by creating spreadsheet reports., • Prepares and maintains records and amortization tables for accounts such as prepaid expenses, software, capital expenditures, leases and leasehold improvements., • Reconciles payroll transactions and records payroll journal entries., • Manages the month-end closing process. Conducts research and makes correcting journal entries for account discrepancies, prepares closing journal entries, posts accrual entries, reconciles accounts, and prepares financial reports., • Manages year-end 1099 processing and reconciles data for reporting., • Processes company payments via ACH and check including vendor payments, manual check requests and client refunds., • Notarizes company documents., • Obtains and maintains corporate registrations and licenses., • Assists the Director of Finance in the preparation of confidential correspondence., • Assists with accounts receivable and accounts payable functions as needed., • Assists with special projects., • Liaises with Accounting, Administration, Human Resources, IT, Legal, Marketing, and Project Managers to ensure open, timely and accurate communication., • Answers all vendor, client and staff inquiries in a timely and friendly fashion., • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential. This has supervisory responsibilities. • Manages accounting professionals such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing and Collections., • Mentors, teaches, and reviews the work of other members of the accounting team., • Recruits and hires accounting staff and conducts performance evaluations. Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or similar. Five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in accounting or finance. Language Skills Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have experience working with BillQuick accounting and project management software or other accounting software. Proficient or familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid Driver’s License and possess reliable transportation. Compensation: Base salary $85,000–$125,000, + benefits, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, professional development opportunities, 401(k), and bonus potential.
