Job Description Aerotek on Behalf of its clients are looking for Shipfitters/Sheet metal mechanics for a month long contract role with alot of OT Sunday-Saturday 12 hour shifts every other Sunday off Starting ASAP PAY 38 AN HOUR Job Title: Seattle Sheet Metal Mechanic Job Description This position fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal components on marine vessels, including ventilation systems, bulkheads, lockers, furniture, and other structural elements. You interpret blueprints and technical drawings, use a variety of hand and power tools such as shears, press brakes, and welding equipment, and ensure that all work meets strict accuracy, quality, and safety standards. The role involves precise layout, cutting, bending, and joining of metal, often in tight spaces and physically demanding shipyard environments. Responsibilities • Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal components on ships and marine vessels, including ductwork, bulkheads, lockers, furniture, and structural elements., • Interpret and work from blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to plan and complete sheet metal tasks accurately., • Perform detailed layout, cutting, bending, forming, and joining of sheet metal to meet project dimensions and tolerances., • Operate hand and power tools such as shears, press brakes, and welding equipment safely and efficiently., • Install and repair ventilation and HVAC duct systems on marine vessels, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and functionality., • Use hand tools and sheet metal joinery techniques to assemble and secure components in place., • Inspect completed work to verify that it meets strict accuracy, quality, and safety standards., • Work in tight spaces and physically demanding environments while maintaining focus, precision, and safe work practices., • Collaborate with other trades and departments in the shipyard to coordinate tasks and meet project deadlines., • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working on and around ships in an outdoor shipyard environment. Essential Skills • Hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication, including layout, cutting, bending, forming, and joining., • Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications., • Proficiency operating hand and power tools such as shears, press brakes, and welding equipment., • Experience working with sheet metal in shipyards or on marine vessels., • Skill in duct installation and HVAC-related sheet metal work., • Ability to use hand tools and sheet metal joinery techniques safely and effectively., • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, quality, and adherence to safety standards., • Physical stamina and the ability to work in tight spaces and demanding environments., • Capability to collaborate with other trades and work as part of a coordinated project team. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in shipyard environments or marine construction., • Experience as a sheet metal joiner on ships or similar industrial settings., • Familiarity with repair and maintenance of existing sheet metal structures and systems., • Comfort working outdoors on active vessels and shipyard sites. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Seattle, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $38.00/hr.
