WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview): Under general supervision, perform repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment. Job Description POSITION SUMMARY Portland YouthBuilders (PYB) provides job training programs, wrap-around support, and alternative high school education with the mission to support low-income young adults, ages 17-26, who are committed to changing their lives to become self-sufficient, contributing members of the workforce and their community. At PYB, students develop marketable employment skills in construction and technology to launch successful careers. PYB’s state certified pre-apprenticeship construction training is offered through two programs: a year-long YouthBuild program, which offers high school completion along with vocational training; and the 8-week Bridge to Construction program offering pre-apprenticeship training for high school graduates. PYB offers construction vocational training onsite at our two facilities (in the Lents neighborhood of southeast Portland and near downtown Beaverton), as well as at a partner construction sites such as Habitat for Humanity, Taking Ownership PDX and Sabin CDC, where PYB provides volunteer construction contracting services. You will own weldments and assemblies from drawing to finished part, provide direct DFM feedback to design engineers, and help ensure the shop runs safely and efficiently. Senior/Staff: • Lead research, development, and production deployment of advanced perception algorithms spanning point cloud registration, seam detection, and real-time in-process tracking across structured light, RGB, and stereo sensors., • Design and lead experiments evaluating state-of-the-art deep learning models, including transformer-based and geometric feature learning architectures, • Design and lead real-time perception systems such as during-weld seam tracking, applying sensor fusion with probabilistic state estimation (e.g., Kalman filtering) to achieve robust weld performance., • Define and own the end-to-end ML lifecycle, from dataset design and annotation strategy through training, benchmarking, and fleet deployment, with clear go/no-go evaluation frameworks., • Architect distributed training and hyperparameter optimization workflows; drive strategy for data acquisition, annotation tooling, and synthetic vs. real scan data usage., • Mentor engineers across levels, providing technical leadership on perception systems and ML methodology. The Site QC Manager is responsible for ensuring strict adherence to quality control standards, customer specifications, and relevant codes during all Company operations conducted on the job site. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, this role plays a crucial part in maintaining the integrity and safety of all project activities. Quality Control • Prepare and meticulously maintain detailed job packages to accurately document all project welding activities., • Monitor daily activities on the job site to verify compliance with customer specifications, quality control guidelines, jurisdictional regulations, and relevant codes., • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify any deviations and promptly address noncompliant conditions., • Coordinate Authorized Inspection activities and oversee the application of required stamping for pressure retaining items., • Document and promptly resolve any nonconforming conditions, taking necessary corrective actions to maintain project integrity.
