Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance Mechanic Job Description This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment in a chemical manufacturing plant. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production lines, facility systems, and support equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The position requires strong troubleshooting skills in motors and electrical maintenance, as well as hands-on experience with industrial machinery in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities • Install, adjust, and maintain mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic plant equipment to support production operations., • Perform general mechanical repairs on plant equipment, vehicles, buildings, facilities, and instruments., • Troubleshoot and repair motors and electrical maintenance issues to minimize downtime., • Perform general trade skills such as welding, basic fabrication, pipefitting, HVAC work, electronic scale repair, pump repair, pump seal rebuilding, and basic line equipment repair and rebuilding., • Use a preventive maintenance (PM) or work order system to document issues, track work, and ensure clear communication with the Maintenance Supervisor on items requiring attention., • Install new machinery and equipment, including setup, alignment, and verification of proper operation., • Complete general facility repairs such as painting, patching walls, and installing or repairing security hardware., • Maintain an accurate inventory of assigned tools and related supplies to ensure readiness for maintenance tasks., • Keep tools and machinery in good working condition through regular inspection, cleaning, and minor servicing., • Notify the supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions, the corrective actions taken, and any quality concerns or supply needs., • Maintain a clean and organized work environment inside and outside the facility by following good housekeeping practices., • Remove defective parts by safely dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools, and by inspecting the form and texture of parts to determine wear or damage., • Support preventive maintenance activities on conveyor belt systems and other production equipment, particularly within agricultural or food-related operations when applicable., • Collaborate with mechanics and technicians on project work around the plant, contributing to both routine and special maintenance tasks., • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when working around hazardous chemicals, including proper use of protective equipment when required.Essential Skills, • 3–5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment., • 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience with a focus on mechanical and electrical systems., • Hands-on maintenance experience with motors, including troubleshooting and repair., • Experience in electrical maintenance, including diagnosing and resolving equipment issues., • Ability to perform preventive maintenance using a PM or work order system., • Ability to safely use hoists, cranes, and a variety of hand and power tools to dismantle and repair equipment., • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs as needed., • Comfort working in a plant environment that handles chemicals for the agricultural industry., • Strong communication skills to clearly document work and communicate equipment issues to supervisors and team members., • Ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance team in a fast-paced production setting.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • 1–2 years of experience working with conveyor belt systems, preferably within the agriculture or food industry., • Experience with welding, basic fabrication, and pipefitting., • Experience with HVAC maintenance and repair., • Experience with electronic scale repair and calibration., • Experience with pump repair and pump seal rebuilding., • Experience with basic line equipment repair and rebuilding in a manufacturing environment., • General facility maintenance skills such as painting, wall patching, and installation or repair of security hardware., • Willingness to work occasional Saturdays as needed to complete projects., • Interest in growing into other roles within the organization over time.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position operates on second shift, Monday through Friday, typically from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The team generally works about 45 hours per week, with occasional Saturday work when needed to complete projects, though this is not the norm. The plant runs 24 hours a day, six days a week, but the maintenance team does not operate around the clock. At full capacity, the maintenance team consists of about 10 people, with mechanics focusing on preventive work and technicians handling project-based tasks around the plant. The team values a friendly, collaborative atmosphere where people enjoy joking around and having fun while staying focused on the job. The facility produces chemicals for the agricultural industry, so you must be comfortable working around potentially hazardous chemicals; when required, you will wear full protective gear, including suits, to ensure safety. You will receive a uniform that can be left at work to be washed daily, as well as steel-toed boots and protective eyewear, supporting both safety and convenience in your daily work.
