Job DescriptionJob Title: Forklift Operator Job Description The Forklift Operator safely operates forklifts and supports a variety of warehouse and light assembly activities to ensure efficient material flow, accurate order fulfillment, and a clean, organized work area. This role combines material handling, basic electrical assembly, and general warehouse support in a small, collaborative production environment. Responsibilities • Operate a sit-down forklift to move, stage, and organize materials throughout the warehouse in a safe and efficient manner., • Load and unload materials from trucks and staging areas while following proper material handling procedures., • Support general warehouse operations, including kitting and preparing orders according to specifications., • Palletize finished products securely and accurately for storage or shipment., • Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including staging, packing, and preparing products for outbound shipments., • Perform light assembly and production work as needed to support daily workflow., • Cut and prepare cables to specified lengths and get them ready for packaging according to work instructions., • Perform basic electrical assembly tasks with attention to accuracy and quality., • Use hand tools and tape measures to complete assembly tasks and verify measurements., • Pick, pack, and prepare materials and components for kitting and production., • Support warehouse inventory activities by organizing, staging, and handling materials correctly., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in all assigned areas., • Collaborate with team members across departments, including shipping, receiving, quelling, and electrical assembly, and remain flexible to assist where needed.Essential Skills, • At least 1 year of forklift operating experience in a warehouse or similar environment., • Proficiency operating a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently., • Experience with material handling, including loading, unloading, staging, and moving materials., • Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively for light assembly work., • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for cutting and assembly tasks., • Basic math skills to verify measurements and quantities., • Experience working in a warehouse environment with responsibilities such as picking, packing, and kitting., • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete tasks with attention to detail., • Willingness to support shipping and receiving activities as needed., • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area and follow safety procedures.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Assembly experience, including basic electrical assembly, is a plus., • Experience with pallet jacks and other common warehouse equipment is beneficial., • Familiarity with warehouse inventory practices is helpful., • Flexibility to work across multiple departments, including shipping, receiving, quelling, and electrical assembly., • Strong teamwork and communication skills in a small production environment., • Reliability and a strong work ethic, including openness to occasional additional work hours when available.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a small warehouse environment divided into departments such as shipping and receiving, quelling, and electrical assembly, with a close-knit production team of approximately eight people. You will work primarily on first shift, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional optional Saturday hours available for those who want additional work time. The position requires flexibility to move between departments as needed and to collaborate closely with other team members in a hands-on, production-focused setting. The facility emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness, and you will use typical warehouse equipment such as sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand tools as part of your daily work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of DES MOINES, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
