PURPOSE OF POSITION: The HR Generalist will support Goodwill Industries of Kansas in fostering an inclusive and productive work environment. This role is responsible for managing various human resources functions including employee relations, performance management, recruitment and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach to HR practices, supporting the organization’s mission to provide employment opportunities and resources to people in our community. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Director of Human Resources. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None. QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION: • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred., • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of HR experience with emphasis on employee relations and recruitment., • Non-profit human resources experience preferred., • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Teams., • Moderate proficiency in ADP preferred., • Knowledgeable in employment laws and compliance (FMLA, FLSA, ADA, EEO)., • Strong communication, problem-solving and organizational skills., • Ability to build trust and credibility across all levels of the organization., • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems., • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred., • Must pass background check and drug screen., • Possesses valid driver's license and insurable., • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting., • Possesses a high level of professionalism, confidentiality and attention to detail. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Fulfills recruitment process from requisition creation to orientation., • Conducts weekly orientation presentation., • Ensures equitability and HR law compliance in employee relations and recruitment., • Availability to attend and conduct career fairs., • Develops and maintains partnerships with businesses, organizations and agencies., • Creates job requisitions and postings., • Distributes weekly job flyer., • Conducts and documents workplace investigations as directed., • Administers, documents and assists in overseeing of employee relation functions., • Completes I-9 documentation., • Ensures equitability and legal compliance in employment law., • Provide professional and courteous demeaner to employees and applicants., • Commits to providing a customer-service driven HR philosophy., • Assists with interviewing and recruitment efforts in collaboration with the HR team., • Schedules interviews., • Provides coaching, guidance and support to leaders and employees on employee relations matters., • Serves as a liaison and conductor of mediation process., • Supports performance management processes, including communication, tracking and documentation., • Maintains accurate employee records in the HRIS system and ensures compliance with internal policies and state/federal regulations., • Supports performance management processes, including communications, tracking and accurate documentation., • Prepares reports and summaries for audits and compliance (ISO, KDADS, CARF)., • Partners with leaders to promote engagement, consistency, and accountability aligned with Goodwill's values and mission., • Participates in HR-related events, projects and initiatives, including culture and compliance programs., • Upholds highest standards of confidentiality and ensures corporate compliance., • Coordinates workflow process with Payroll/Benefits Manager., • Maintains employee files via the HRIS system., • Completes wage verification or employment statuses., • Assists with the performance management program., • Assists the Director of HR with various research projects and/or special assignments. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Acts as a resource for employees and managers to ensure their understanding and compliance with HR policies and regulations., • Assists or prepares correspondence, processes mail; makes photocopies, faxes documents and performs other clerical functions., • Completes reports for management as requested., • Edits work for spelling and grammar, presents numerical data effectively and is able to read and interpret written information., • Prioritizes and plans work activities and uses time effectively., • Interprets transcripts, employment and reference records., • Adheres to the highest level of confidentiality, keeping all Human Resource information private., • Prioritizes work in accordance with established procedures related to areas of responsibility as requested., • Working knowledge of department functions and specific knowledge related to areas of responsibility as needed., • Assists all managers with projects and reports as needed., • Maintains neat and organized appearance of the work area., • Answers telephone and refer calls to appropriate departments as requested., • Protects confidentiality of all employee files., • Assists with training as needed., • Responsible for safety and well-being of all clients and employees., • Adheres to all safety policies and reports violations., • Adheres to all ethical standards and confidentiality of records., • Support mission statement and activities of other departments., • Support the accessibility of our services and facilities free of architectural, attitudinal, environmental, financial, communication, transportation, employment and other barriers to person with disabilities and barriers to employment., • Responsible for the health safety and well-being of clients and employees., • Other duties as assigned.
