Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician manages maintenance and repair activities for equipment, machinery, electrical and power systems, and building facilities to ensure uninterrupted operations in a highly automated distribution environment. This role oversees building safety programs, supports assigned operational projects, and provides leadership, coaching, and development for maintenance technicians while performing hands-on preventive and corrective maintenance. Responsibilities • Manage and direct the daily activities of maintenance technicians across all areas of the facility to ensure consistent, reliable operations., • Train maintenance technicians on job assignments and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance appraisals., • Assist in developing and recommending training programs and curricula to strengthen technical skills and safety awareness., • Monitor staffing needs, including scheduling, attendance, turnover, and workload distribution, to maintain adequate coverage., • Oversee repair and maintenance of equipment, machinery, electrical and power systems, and building systems to minimize downtime., • Perform assigned preventive maintenance tasks and minor mechanical repairs on material handling and Fulfillment Center equipment., • Use structured preventive maintenance systems (CMMS) in alignment with manufacturer guidelines and best practices., • Maintain efficient operation of equipment by clearing jams and removing foreign materials from conveyors and automated systems., • Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical systems, including single-phase and three-phase power, motors, protective devices, and photo sensors., • Diagnose and repair mechanical systems such as bearings, pneumatics, conveyors, and equipment construction and operation, with limited exposure to hydraulics., • Safely use hand and power tools such as drills, saws, and fasteners to perform maintenance and repair tasks., • Manage building and grounds maintenance, including landscaping, sanitation, and parking areas., • Perform general building maintenance, including lamp replacement, basic construction tasks, wiring repairs, and overhead door maintenance., • Develop and implement maintenance programs and work schedules designed to minimize equipment downtime and improve reliability., • Review maintenance operations, systems, and practices and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and safety., • Implement and enforce company safety programs and ensure compliance with regulatory standards., • Conduct routine “Manage by Walking Around” (MBWA) to monitor operations, identify issues, and reinforce safe work practices., • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and ethical standards within the maintenance team., • Address team concerns promptly and communicate essential operational updates and changes., • Manage department budgets, monitor labor hours, and assign tasks effectively to meet operational goals., • Track and report maintenance metrics and operational performance to support continuous improvement initiatives., • Climb to elevated levels to perform repairs on equipment, lighting, and facility infrastructure., • Lift tools and parts weighing up to 80 pounds and perform repetitive physical activities such as bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, standing, and walking for extended periods., • Work rotating shifts as required to support 24/7 or extended-hour operations in a distribution or fulfillment environment., • Support cleaning and upkeep of mechanical and conveyor systems to ensure safe and efficient operation., • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fulfillment, distribution, or similar industrial setting to support overall operational objectives.Essential Skills, • At least 2 years of maintenance experience in a facilities, United States Armed Forces, distribution, and/or manufacturing environment., • At least 6 months of experience using hand and power tools such as drills, fasteners, and saws in a facilities, United States Armed Forces, distribution, and/or manufacturing environment., • Knowledge of industrial electricity, including single-phase and three-phase power, motors, protective devices, and photo sensors., • Knowledge of mechanical theory, including bearings, pneumatics, conveyors, construction, and operation, with limited exposure to hydraulics., • Ability to troubleshoot industrial equipment, conveyor systems, sensors, and automation components., • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and experience with conveyor maintenance in an industrial or distribution environment., • Ability to climb ladders, access elevated areas, and change out lights while performing basic facility maintenance., • Ability to lift tools and parts weighing up to 80 pounds., • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks such as bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, standing, and walking for extended periods., • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including varying days and hours as operational needs require., • Experience working in fulfillment centers, distribution facilities, or similar industrial settings with moving machinery and equipment., • Strong commitment to safety and ability to follow strict safety standards and procedures.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Associate’s Degree in Industrial or Maintenance Technology, or at least 2 years of relevant maintenance experience in lieu of a degree., • At least 2 years of experience in a maintenance lead role or similar leadership position., • At least 2 years of experience in facilities, manufacturing, distribution, or military environments., • Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), including setting up and executing preventive maintenance programs., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for tracking metrics, reporting, and documentation., • Experience coaching, mentoring, and training team members in technical and safety-related topics., • Experience with automation systems, conveyor systems, and industrial sensors., • Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, and conveyor systems., • Ability to work effectively in a highly automated environment with robotics and multi-level conveyor systems., • Strong communication skills to effectively convey operational updates, safety information, and team expectations., • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing operational demands.Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment is a climate-controlled, very clean, highly automated distribution and fulfillment center. The facility features robots performing pharmacy technician functions and multiple levels of automated conveyors, creating a modern and technology-driven setting. You will work around moving machinery and equipment and must follow strict safety standards and procedures at all times. Typical shifts include a Tuesday–Saturday schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and a Sunday–Thursday schedule from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with rotating shifts as needed to support operations. The role requires frequent walking, standing, climbing ladders, and working at elevated levels, as well as lifting tools and parts up to 80 pounds. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Memphis, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.
