Information Technology Project Manager FLSA Status: Exempt Position Description The information technology (IT) project manager is a key member of the Project Management Office (PMO), responsible for ensuring that technology initiatives are successfully planned, executed, and delivered in alignment with organizational priorities. This role oversees multiple concurrent projects across web, application development, infrastructure, and support systems, applying PMO standards while fostering flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to shepherd multiple technical projects from conception to implementation while communicating with project stakeholders and executive leadership. Responsibilities • Project delivery and governance, • Manage multiple IT projects from initiation through closeout, ensuring alignment with IT and PMO standards, processes, and templates, • Define project scope, objectives, success metrics, and resource needs in collaboration with stakeholders, the PMO, and other organizational departments (including IT, Multimedia, internal clients, and leadership), • Ensure compliance with organizational project guidance, reporting, and documentation requirements, • Agile project management, • Apply Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid frameworks under the oversight of the PMO to drive timely, iterative delivery, • Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and demonstrations to ensure transparency and continuous improvement, • Use project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Smartsheet) to track progress and report status, • Stakeholder engagement, • Serve as primary liaison between organizational departments, ensuring that project goals remain aligned with organizational priorities, • Deliver clear, concise, and timely communication tailored to both technical and nontechnical audiences, • Facilitate product demos, stakeholder reviews, and leadership briefings in partnership with the PMO and other organizational departments, • Risk, change, and quality management, • Identify and track risks, issues, and dependencies; escalate critical matters, • Ensure deliverables meet organizational quality standards, business requirements, and compliance guidelines, • Leadership and collaboration, • Work closely with organizational departments to align resources and capacity with project demand, • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing across teams, • Continuous improvement, • Leverage metrics, lessons learned, and retrospectives to improve project delivery outcomes, • Champion process improvements and innovative practices that enhance PMO effectiveness, • Contribute to the evolution of the PMO by providing feedback on frameworks, tools, and standards, • Other, • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred, • Four years of project management experience with a bachelor’s degree or a combination of appropriate post-high school education and relevant experience equal to 8 years, • Previous experience with Asure DevOps preferred and/or Smartsheet preferred, • Organized and able to manage multiple technical project teams at one time, • Experience with Scrum project management methodology, • Able to communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical staff, • Strong attention to detail, • Willingness to go beyond normal responsibilities to make the Institute for Intergovernmental Research successful, • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, • Ability to work independently and with a team Most work is performed in a highly productive and fast-paced virtual office environment with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
