Job DescriptionJob Title: Marine Electrician Job Description As a Marine Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, and hookup of equipment for all electrical services on ships. This role requires you to lay out, pull, lift, and install cable and conduit, as well as prepare work areas, drill holes, grind metal surfaces, and weld mounting equipment. You will also test electrical equipment and perform other related tasks essential to the position. Responsibilities • Prepare work areas, drill holes, and grind metal surfaces., • Install welds and hookup equipment., • Lay out, pull, rip out, repair, and install cable and conduit., • Test electrical equipment., • Read composite blueprints, computer printouts, and Navy standards manuals., • Remove scrap and perform general cleanup., • Perform other tasks relevant to the trade.Essential Skills, • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and shipbuilding practices., • Ability to use power and hand tools., • Proficiency in reading composite blueprints, computer printouts, and Navy standards manuals., • Two years of marine electrical experience and/or four years of electrical experience., • Capability to work at heights and in confined spaces., • Ability to complete 6-10 hookups a day., • Passing the NASSCO assessment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Former NASSCO Electricians, Commercial, Industrial, and/or Residential Electricians, Navy Personnel such as Gas Turbine Electricians, Electrician’s Mates, Interior Communication, Avionics Techs, Engineering Techs, and Cable Assembly are encouraged to apply., • Must be available to work 1st and 2nd shifts., • Comprehend written and verbal instructions and hear warning signals., • Read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations, and warnings.Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
