Job DescriptionJob Title: Survey Technician / GIS TechnicianJob Description The Survey Technician / GIS Technician will support a variety of field and office-based surveying, mapping, and geospatial data management activities. This role is responsible for collecting, processing, and analyzing survey and GIS data to support engineering, land development, utility, and infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include field data collection using GPS and surveying equipment, maintaining geospatial databases, developing maps and exhibits, and assisting with drafting and design efforts utilizing GIS and CAD software. Responsibilities • Perform field data collection for topographic surveys, utility mapping, asset inventories, and related geospatial projects using GPS and surveying equipment., • Collect, process, and maintain accurate survey and GIS data for the preparation of maps, drawings, reports, and project deliverables., • Assist with utility investigations, infrastructure mapping, and spatial data verification activities., • Utilize GIS software to create, update, and manage geospatial databases, maps, and digital records., • Transfer and process field-collected data into GIS and CAD platforms for analysis and documentation., • Support the development of survey drawings, mapping exhibits, and project documentation using ArcGIS, Civil 3D, and related software., • Interpret engineering plans, aerial imagery, maps, and other project documents to support surveying and mapping efforts., • Perform quality control checks on collected field data to ensure accuracy and completeness., • Apply mathematical and analytical skills to measurements, calculations, spatial analysis, and data validation., • Operate and maintain GPS units, data collectors, and other surveying equipment., • Work safely and effectively in outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions, while adhering to company and project safety standards., • Support office-based GIS, CAD, and mapping projects when field activities are limited due to weather or project needs., • Collaborate with engineers, surveyors, project managers, and other team members to support successful project delivery.Required Qualifications, • 6 months to 3 years of experience in surveying, GIS, geospatial data collection, mapping, or a related field., • Experience collecting and processing field data using GPS technology, survey equipment, or GIS applications., • Working knowledge of GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, or related geospatial platforms., • Familiarity with CAD software, including Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or similar applications., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality., • Ability to interpret maps, engineering plans, utility records, aerial imagery, and technical documents., • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills., • Willingness and ability to work outdoors as needed in various weather conditions., • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics, or a related field preferred., • Interest in developing a long-term career in surveying, GIS, and geospatial technology.Preferred Qualifications, • Experience with drone operations, UAV mapping, or photogrammetry., • Familiarity with GPS/GNSS data collection and processing workflows., • Knowledge of utility mapping, asset management, or infrastructure-related GIS projects., • Experience creating maps, exhibits, and geospatial reports for engineering or land development projects., • Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively within a project team environment., • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines., • Desire to grow professionally and take on increasing technical responsibilities over time.Work Environment The workday typically runs from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a combination of field and office responsibilities. Field assignments may require travel to project sites and work outdoors in various weather conditions while collecting survey and GIS data. Office-based responsibilities include GIS analysis, map production, data management, and CAD drafting using ArcGIS, Civil 3D, and related software. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Armonk, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
