Job Description About Preston Wood Pediatrics Preston Wood Pediatrics is committed to providing comprehensive, family-centered care that supports the developmental and health needs of children in our community. As we continue to expand our physical therapy services, we're building a team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about helping children thrive in both home and clinic settings and who want to grow their careers alongside our practice. Position Overview We are seeking a motivated and versatile Physical Therapy Assistant to provide pediatric physical therapy services in both home health and clinic-based settings. This hybrid role offers the best of both worlds—the flexibility and family connection of home visits combined with the team collaboration and resources of clinic-based care. This position is ideal for a PTA who wants more than just a job; we're looking for someone ready to build a long-term career with significant opportunities for professional development, increased responsibilities, and advancement as our program continues to expand. Key Responsibilities You'll provide skilled physical therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, implementing individualized treatment plans in both patients' homes throughout the DFW area and in our clinic setting. You'll help children improve mobility, strength, balance, coordination, and functional skills while adapting your approach to different environments and available resources. This role involves working directly with infants, children, and adolescents who have developmental delays, neurological conditions, orthopedic issues, and genetic disorders affecting movement and function. You'll educate families on therapeutic exercises and home programs during both home and clinic visits, building strong relationships that support long-term progress. You'll document patient progress accurately, communicate regularly with supervising PTs about treatment outcomes and plan adjustments, and collaborate with our interdisciplinary team including occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, BCBAs, and pediatricians to provide comprehensive, coordinated care. You'll maintain a flexible schedule that balances home visits with clinic appointments, manage your time effectively to optimize patient care and minimize travel, and represent Preston Wood Pediatrics professionally in the community during home visits. You'll also actively participate in team meetings, case discussions, and program development initiatives as you grow in the role. Required Qualifications • Current Texas state licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant, • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, • Strong knowledge of pediatric development and age-appropriate therapeutic interventions, • Comfortable working independently in home settings and collaboratively in clinic environments, • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Preferred Qualifications • 1+ years of experience as a PTA, preferably in pediatrics, • Experience working with children with autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, or other developmental conditions, • Familiarity with adaptive equipment and assistive devices, • Training in specialized pediatric approaches (NDT, constraint-induced movement therapy, sensory integration), • Strong time management and organizational skills, • Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) Essential Skills The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills in implementing pediatric treatment plans across different settings, excellent communication abilities with children, families, and team members in both formal and informal environments, and self-motivation and time management for balancing independent home visits with scheduled clinic appointments. Flexibility and adaptability to work effectively in varying environments with different resources, patience and creativity in making therapy fun and engaging for children, problem-solving skills to adapt treatments based on location and available equipment, organizational skills for managing dual schedules, documentation, and travel logistics, collaborative mindset for working within an interdisciplinary team, and genuine passion for working with children and commitment to meeting families where they are—literally and figuratively are essential. Hybrid Schedule & Work Environment This position offers variety and flexibility with a blend of home-based visits throughout the DFW area and clinic-based appointments at Preston Wood Pediatrics. You'll have input into your schedule balance between home and clinic visits based on patient needs, your preferences, and program growth. Home visits offer the intimacy of working with families in their natural environment, while clinic days provide team collaboration, access to specialized equipment, and reduced drive time. We provide mileage reimbursement for home visits and support you in creating an efficient schedule that maximizes patient care while respecting your time. The role requires the ability to lift and transfer patients, demonstrate exercises, work on the floor or at various heights, and adapt to different physical environments. We maintain manageable caseloads that allow you to provide quality care while continuing to develop your skills in both settings. Growth Opportunities This position is designed for someone who wants to advance their career, not just fill a role. As Preston Wood Pediatrics expands our physical therapy services, you'll have access to numerous growth opportunities: Professional Development: • Continuing education support and reimbursement for specialty certifications, • Mentorship from experienced pediatric PTs, • Training in specialized pediatric techniques and interventions for both home and clinic settings, • Opportunities to attend conferences and workshops, • Cross-training in different treatment approaches and populations Expanded Responsibilities: • Potential to specialize in specific treatment areas (early intervention, orthopedics, neurodevelopmental approaches), • Opportunity to mentor and train new PTAs as our team grows, • Involvement in program development for both home health and clinic services, • Potential to lead specialized therapy groups or clinics, • Opportunity to help shape our hybrid service delivery model Career Advancement: • Clear pathway to senior PTA or lead PTA positions, • Opportunity to transition into clinic coordination, scheduling, or program management roles, • Potential to become a clinical educator or fieldwork coordinator, • Support for pursuing DPT degree if desired Compensation and Benefits We offer competitive compensation that reflects the value and versatility of this hybrid role, including: • Competitive hourly rates, • Mileage reimbursement for home visits, • Flexible scheduling with input on home/clinic balance, • Comprehensive health benefits, • Paid time off, • Continuing education support and reimbursement, • Professional development opportunities, • Supportive team environment with clinical supervision and mentorship, • Opportunities for increased compensation as you take on additional responsibilities What We Offer • Competitive compensation with clear pathways for advancement, • The variety and professional challenge of working in multiple settings, • Collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment, • Mentorship and clinical supervision from experienced pediatric PTs, • Manageable caseload that supports quality patient care in both settings, • Flexibility to balance home visits and clinic appointments, • Clear pathways for career growth and increased responsibility, • Supportive leadership invested in your success, • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in children's lives every day, wherever they are Our Commitment to Your Growth At Preston Wood Pediatrics, we don't just talk about growth—we actively invest in it. Whether you're early in your PTA career or have years of experience and want to take the next step, we'll work with you to create a development plan that aligns with your goals and our expanding services. As our program grows, so will your opportunities. Your growth is our growth. Ideal Candidate You're a versatile PTA who thrives on variety and enjoys both the independence of home health and the collaboration of clinic-based practice. You're self-motivated enough to manage home visits independently but also value being part of a supportive team. You're organized and can juggle schedules, travel, and documentation across two settings. You're hungry to learn and grow, excited about feedback and mentorship, and not content with doing the same thing year after year. You have a genuine love for working with children, the patience and creativity to make therapy engaging in any environment, and the adaptability to work effectively whether you're in a family's living room or a well-equipped clinic. Most importantly, you're looking for a professional home where you can build a long-term career, not just a job.
