Initiating preventative measures. -Escalate and communicate challenges identified including ethical issues and issues related to conflict resolution. -Routinely collaborating with Assistant Director of Nursing for Wound Care to initiate and recommend best practices based on prudent assessment. -Participating in Unit/Department Quality Improvement and Hospital Wide Q.I activities, i.e. Incidence, Prevalence Studies and Nursing Quality. -Providing culturally competent patient, family and staff education consistent with cultural, ethnic, religious and other belief systems. -Maintaining the security and confidentiality of data and information in accordance with patient rights policies. -Achieving and maintaining a level of professional competency by engaging in activities consistent with clinical practice and population to serve. -Identifies available community resources helpful to clients, refers and assists clients in utilizing such resources. -Asset management related to rented equipment. e.g. Specialty beds, and Negative Pressure Devices. Job Description Job Title: Substance Use Specialist Job Summary: CASES is a New York City agency at the forefront of the intersection between behavioral health and involvement in the criminal justice system. The Behavioral Health division consists of a continuum of services for justice-involved individuals with serious mental illness. The Nathaniel Clinic is an OMH-licensed Article 31 clinic that provides outpatient mental health services to adolescents and adults, focusing on providing care to those involved in the criminal legal system. Substance Use Specialists play an integral role in the recovery process, and the services they provide have shown to promote positive health and recovery outcomes. The Substance Use Specialist is part of a multidisciplinary team working collaboratively with therapists, psychiatrists/PNPs, and nurses. The Substance Use Specialist will perform initial substance use assessments, complete SBIRTS, provide individual and group counseling, contribute to person-centered, trauma informed treatment planning, provide crisis intervention, and assist participants in developing relapse prevention plans.
