The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in collecting and analyzing in situ bio-optical data and in developing bio-optical models to assess phytoplankton functional types (PFTs) and net primary production (NPP) from space. A strong background in radiative transfer theory, optical oceanography, phytoplankton eco-physiology and the development and application of remote sensing algorithms is highly essential. The candidate should be proficient in working with data from a range of satellite sensors, with particular emphasis on hyperspectral instruments such as HICO, EMIT and PACE. The SAII will manage the day-to-day operations and solve technical problems in the Chadwick Lab and Macedo Lab the Lamont campus. Assist graduate students, postdocs, and faculty to setup and perform laboratory experiments; be part of a team solving cutting-edge scientific problems. Duties and Responsibilities include: • Configure and set up laboratory equipment and experiments, including design, fabrication, and installation of laboratory equipment, instrument mounts, and instrumentation; plumbing and pump calibrations and reconfigurations., • Set up data loggers, cameras, and other instrumentation. Work with variable frequency drivers and data acquisition software., • Troubleshoot and repair scientific research instrumentation [AC1] [m2], electronic instruments, electromechanical equipment, and computers,, • Manage computer data storage and backup software.
