Job DescriptionPrimary Job Title: HistotechnologistAlternate / Related Job Titles: • Histology Technologist, • Histotechnologist ASCP, • Dermatopathology Histotechnologist, • Position Type: Contract, • Contract Duration: 3 months, • Start: As Soon As Possible, • Pay Rate: $42.00 – $55.00 per hourJob SummaryThe Histotechnologist performs routine and non-routine histology procedures to prepare high-quality tissue slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists. This role supports dermatopathology operations by ensuring accurate specimen processing, staining, quality control, and regulatory compliance. The position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to support and train laboratory staff while maintaining high safety and quality standards.Key Responsibilities, • Perform routine and non-routine histology activities in accordance with established policies and procedures, • Ensure proper accessioning, labeling, and documentation of all tissue samples, • Process tissue samples and embed processed tissue in paraffin, • Perform microtomy of embedded tissue blocks, • Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining, • Perform coverslipping of stained slides (manual or automated), • Prepare solutions and reagents for special stain procedures, • Obtain and validate tissue and control materials for special stains and IHC procedures, • Perform special stain and immunohistochemistry (IHC) testing as required, • File finished blocks and slides accurately, • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor troubleshooting of laboratory equipment, • Document remedial actions, including repairs and repeat testing, • Provide training and guidance to Histotechnicians, students, and laboratory aides, • Adhere to laboratory quality control policies and document all QC activities, • Ensure compliance with corporate safety standards and CLIA, CAP, local, state, and federal regulations, • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisorRequired Experience, • Previous histotechnologist or histotechnician background, • Experience performing full-scope histology procedures independentlyRequired Skills, • Histology tissue processing and embedding, • Microtomy and slide preparation, • Special stains and quality control compliancePreferred Skills, • Immunohistochemistry (IHC) testing, • Equipment troubleshooting and maintenance, • Staff training and mentoringEducation & Certification, • ASCP Histotechnologist (HT) certification required, • Florida state licensure required, • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a related fieldWork Schedule We are a Native American-owned, economically disadvantaged corporation that highly values diverse and inclusive workplaces.
