Job DescriptionJob Title: Skilled Labor – Furniture Install Technician Job Description This permanent role offers the opportunity to work as an install technician on a Syracuse-based team of furniture installers. You will install office furniture and furnishings for large construction projects, ensuring safe transport, precise assembly, and professional installation at client sites. The position involves regional travel throughout New York, occasional overnight stays, and frequent overtime in a stable, growth-oriented environment. Responsibilities • Load office furniture and related materials at the shop or warehouse for delivery to job sites., • Safely transport furniture to job locations using a box truck or large delivery truck when needed., • Unload furniture and materials at job sites, ensuring items remain undamaged and organized., • Assemble and install desks, chairs, cubicles, shelving, cabinets, and other office furniture according to specifications., • Ensure proper alignment, stability, and functionality of all installed furniture and fixtures., • Follow blueprints, installation guides, and client instructions to achieve accurate placement and layout., • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for assembly and installation tasks., • Maintain a clean, organized work area and properly dispose of packaging materials and debris., • Communicate clearly with clients, supervisors, and team members to confirm requirements and ensure satisfaction., • Identify and resolve basic installation issues or obstacles on site, escalating more complex problems as needed., • Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques, use of personal protective equipment, and workspace precautions., • Report any vehicle, equipment, or site hazards promptly and follow company procedures for incident prevention., • Travel regionally throughout New York to various job sites and participate in occasional overnight assignments as required., • Arrive at the shop or commute directly to the worksite, depending on project needs and loading requirements, and return to the shop or home at the end of the day., • Work overtime during the week and on Saturdays when required to meet project deadlines.Essential Skills, • At least 1 year of experience in construction labor, mechanical assembly, manufacturing assembly, roofing, landscaping, or related construction fields., • Experience operating a box truck or large delivery truck., • Clean driving record suitable for operating company vehicles., • Experience with furniture installation, carpentry, or closely related work (preferred)., • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy furniture safely throughout the workday., • Proficiency using basic hand tools and power tools for assembly and installation., • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow blueprints, instructions, and installation guides accurately., • Ability to follow safety procedures and proper lifting techniques consistently., • Reliable transportation to the shop or directly to job sites., • Willingness to work overtime during the week and on Saturdays., • Willingness to travel regionally throughout New York, including occasional overnight travel., • Effective problem-solving skills to address on-site installation challenges., • Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with supervisors, coworkers, and clients.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • OSHA 10 certification is preferred but not required., • Experience working on commercial or office construction projects is a plus., • Comfort working in environments that may still be under construction or renovation., • Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings or floor plans., • Professional, courteous demeanor when interacting with clients and site personnel., • No formal education or additional certifications are required beyond the skills and experience listed.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime commonly required during the week and on Saturdays to meet project demands. Work is primarily indoors in office buildings, with some assignments in warehouses and occasional outdoor loading or unloading. Many sites are near the end of construction and are generally clean, though some may still be under construction or undergoing renovations, requiring comfort in active jobsite conditions. Regional travel throughout New York is part of the role, and occasional overnight travel is required; hotel accommodations or per diem are provided, and each employee has their own room. Personal protective equipment is supplied and must be worn at all times, while employees must provide their own steel-toe or safety-toe boots, work pants or jeans, and non-graphic T-shirts. The position involves regular use of hand tools and power tools, lifting and moving heavy furniture, and working both in shops and at client sites in a physically active, hands-on environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Syracuse, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
