Rising Ground is headquartered in New York City. About the Role: As a member of the Residential Support Team, you’ll help create a safe, structured, and supportive environment for youth in care. This hands-on role includes supervising daily activities, conducting safety and cottage checks, supporting telehealth and medical appointments, responding to crises, and assisting with transportation needs. You'll build therapeutic relationships, model trauma-informed care, and reinforce Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). This role is ideal for someone empathetic, organized, and able to stay calm under pressure while supporting youth with complex needs. What You’ll Do • Essential Functions:, • Supervision & Safety:, • Actively assists in the supervision of youth on campus by patrolling grounds and nearby community. Responds to residents who are out-of-program or attempting to leave the campus using established protocols (Such as "Code Yellow")., • Conduct routine cottage checks, including weekly safety checks and random or required inventory checks (e.g., contraband, hygiene, or supply audits)., • Support youth participation in telehealth appointments and assist with coordination and supervision during these sessions as needed., • Crisis Intervention:, • Responds to crisis situations when observed or called for assistance. Responds to "Code Blue" as available staff to support cottage staff during crisis situations., • Relationships with Youth - Establish and maintain appropriate and therapeutic relationships with the residents., • Develop an understanding of each resident's strength and needs and individualize interactions accordingly. Always maintain appropriate boundaries and model appropriate interactions for childcare staff., • Crisis Management & Safety:, • Model and ensure the appropriate use of TCI techniques including verbal de-escalation techniques, restraint procedures, and Life Space Interviewing., • Behavior Management:, • Implement and Model PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) system fully., • Attend all required meetings and trainings and share new and updated information with staff when necessary., • At all times, model core values of ROAR (Respect, On-Task, Act Safely and Responsibility) and frame corrections of resident's behaviors in positive ways., • Campus Support:, • Provides additional staffing and support in the cottages on an as needed basis. Assists with other duties depending on the situational needs of the campus (i.e. transporting youth, AWOL, Police Custody retrievals)., • Transport youth to and from medical appointments, home visits, court appearances, and other approved activities, ensuring all documentation and communication protocols are followed., • Documentation/Expectations: Ensure proper documentation of events and timely communication with other inter-disciplinary team members around incidents., • Document routine cottage checks, including weekly safety checks and random or required inventory checks (e.g., contraband, hygiene, or supply audits)., • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all incidents, observations, and interactions in accordance with agency policies., • Maintain regular communication with inter-disciplinary team members regarding youth behavior, safety concerns, incidents, or medical needs., • Document youth participation in telehealth appointments and assist with coordination and supervision during these sessions as needed. Your Qualifications • High School Degree required, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred, • Minimum of 3+ years working in a Residential Treatment Center or related service., • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record as determined by NYS Department of Motor Vehicles, • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and remain organized in a fast-paced environment, • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, school personnel, and external agencies., • Empathetic, flexible, and trauma-informed approach to working with youth who may have complex emotional or behavioral needs, • Experience supporting children or adolescents with emotional, behavioral, developmental, or psychiatric challenges in residential, educational, or therapeutic settings, • Ability to proficiently multitask and successfully balance multiple projects., • Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality, person-centered care in a supportive and inclusive environment, • Bi- lingual in Spanish preferred but not required., • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with youth, families, colleagues, and outside providers Work Environment: This position is based out of our Yonkers Residential Treatment Center location for adolescents ages 12-21. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This position is part of a 24/7 residential program. Support Staff are scheduled to work either the 7:00 AM–3:00 PM shift or the 2:00 PM–10:00 PM shift. Flexibility is required, as shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on program scheduling and coverage needs. Participation in an on-call rotation or emergency coverage may also be required. This includes dressing professionally or in designated work uniforms/dress code if prescribed., • Professionally representing the agency when speaking with parents, community members or other stakeholders., • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with adolescents and staff; Respond to all requests in a professional and courteous manner., • Respect the privacy of all individuals and maintain client confidentiality as prescribed by law and in Agency policies., • Assume the expected role on the treatment team and maintain collaborative relations with members., • Maintain and promote a cooperative, harmonious, teamwork environment within the workplace.
