Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Senior Housing Specialist FLSA: Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT: Housing Services REPORTS TO: Housing Coordinator LOCATION: Yonkers, NY SALARY: $55,000.00-$63,000.00 Summary: Coordinates the day to day operation of the housing specialist program to identify appropriate housing for homeless individuals and families throughout Westchester County. Oversees the completion and submission of weekly and monthly reports, HMIS Data, all mandatory HUD and DSS documentation. Ensures client’s folders are in compliance with program requirements. Provides crisis intervention and stabilization as needed. May require some after-hours follow-up for emergency situations. Attends weekly cross department/agency/ Continuum of Care meetings as required. Attends mediation and crisis intervention with staff when needed. Performs all other related tasks as assigned by Coordinator. EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor Degree required or a Master degree in a related Human Services field preferred; with 3-5 years’ experience in direct client services. Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable. Ability to work some evenings, attend open houses’ during afterhours and on weekends as needed. Ability to follow up and maintained professional relationships with realtors, landlords and in and outside partners. Knowledge of tenant and landlords’ rights. Ability to negotiate on behalf of clients and programs. Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Google Suite Apps. Must own a car and valid NYS driver’s license required. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Process monthly general ledger closing, prepare adjusting journal entries, and update all monthly work papers, including payroll and fringes, fixed asset and depreciation, insurance expense, and other accrued expenses, • Support Senior Accountants with preparation of monthly and quarterly financial packages, • Enter and generate monthly payroll journal entry. Maintain health insurance allocation database and generate monthly invoices for AP entry, • Reconcile intercompany accounts for all partnerships, • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, • Prepare annual operating budgets, • Support Director of Accounting with corporate work papers and other ad hoc projects as needed., • Bachelors degree in accounting from an accredited four-year college, • Entry level to 2 years of related experience with property management and/or non-profit accounting, • Demonstrative knowledge of accounting theory and principles, • Strong Excel skills, • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines, • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects concurrently, • Capability to work in a faced paced environment Westhab is a prominent community development organization, providing housing and supportive services for more than 10,000 of the most vulnerable members of our community each year. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Conduct intake and assessment process to orient client to the program and develop individual service plan reflecting assessment needs and goals., • Meet weekly with clients to assist with the achievement of individual service plan goals., • Coordinate services with Housing Specialist, other staff, and external partners, • Provide advocacy for individual clients around entitlements and services., • Provide crisis intervention and supportive counseling to strengthen clients’ ability to make appropriate life decisions., • Document case management activities in accordance with agency and funding source guidelines and procedures., • Complete Housing applications (both written and computer-generated) for clients based on their individual needs and functioning., • Achieve monthly placement quota, as assigned., • Facilitate workshops, groups, and escort clients as applicable., • Attend staff meetings and trainings to enhance skills that are related to job function., • Must be able to work flexible, alternate schedules, which may include evening and weekend shifts., • Perform other related duties. EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Human Services Field preferred. Proof of Education is Required. At least 1 year of case management experience working with the homeless, mentally ill, substance abuse, and/or low-income populations. Bilingual a plus. Strong relationship-building skills required.
