Job Description Position: Banquet & Restaurant Server Reports to: Status: Non-Exempt Job Summary: A restaurant Server is responsible to serve patrons with a friendly, knowledgeable positive attitude, creating an enjoyable atmosphere with courteous and efficient service. Ensure the guest enjoyment by being attentive to their needs. A Banquet Server is responsible for delivering and serving food and beverage items to banquet guests in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Restaurant Server will work in both areas and will perform the following essential functions: • Check station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness., • Greet the guests in a friendly and courteous manner and explain any specials and/or restaurant promotions for guest awareness., • Record the details of the guests' orders, repeating the order to the guest to check for accuracy., • Input the order to the Point-of-Sale computer to inform the kitchen of the particulars in the order being placed., • When complete, retrieve order from kitchen, confirm its accuracy, lift, and deliver to guest along with appropriate condiments., • Abide by all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcohol beverages to minors and intoxicated guests., • Replenish beverages as necessary and check with guests for overall satisfaction., • Market and serve upon request any dessert items or specialty coffees., • Ascertain guest satisfaction and present check., • Process checks and payment per hotel procedures. Banquet Server will work in both areas and will perform the following essential functions. • Read Banquet Event Order (BEO) and know how to complete a set-up., • Set tables in assigned area correctly and uniformly., • Keep station neat and clean while servicing guests per established policies and procedures., • Greet guests and respond to requests., • Serve Food and Beverage to guests consistently throughout the banquet., • Use proper in-room clearing and aisle tray break-down buffet or other special food service tables and equipment., • Assist in setting up/breaking down buffet or other special food service tables and equipment., • Greet and serve guests following guidelines set by the policies/procedures regarding the service of food and beverage., • Follow all guest check and money-handling procedures when serving a-la-carte and beverage orders., • Complete assigned side work., • Hours: Flexible; scheduled days and times may vary based on need. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which The Club may establish from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position., • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to accommodate the hotel's business needs., • Know the menu for each function served and be able to explain the major ingredients and preparation methods for each item., • Know and use "Suggestive Selling" techniques., • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor/manage. Qualification Standards Education & Experience • High School diploma or higher, • Previous hospitality/serving position preferred, • Excellent customer service skills, • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, • Ability to use technology Physical Demands • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, • Ability to walk and bend, • Ability to lift 25 lbs., • Ability to communicate clearly, • Corrected vision to normal range, • Ability to work long hours as needed Mental Demands • Make sound judgments quickly, • Work on multiple tasks, making appropriate progress toward deadlines, • Able to work independently, take direction, and provide direction to others, • Manage differing personalities within the office, the hotel, and the community, • Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality, • Ability to work effectively in stressful, high-pressure situations, • Ability to effectively handle challenges in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary Safety & Hospitality • Always remember that the guests are your priority and you should do your personal best to ensure their comfort and safety., • Report anything questionable to your Supervisor or Manager., • Safety is one of the most important factors to consider daily while performing any work operation., • When using chemicals, read the label for proper use, precautions, antidotes and disposal methods and always use gloves., • Ask your supervisor if in doubt of any safety item, remember the only dumb question is the one that goes unasked., • Always talk positively about The Club, the staff, the policies, and the management., • When a guest asks you a question about The Island, do not say you do not know; rather tell them you will find out the answer for them. Return with the answer promptly.
