Job Description Use this link to apply with us: Point Eight Power is hiring a Buildings Manufacturing Manager to lead our Buildings construction team in Belle Chasse, LA. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for directing daily shop operations across fabrication, fitting, welding, blast, and paint for power distribution buildings serving oil & gas, marine, and energy clients. This position requires a leader who is present in the shop, drives production discipline, sets quality and safety standards, and actively leads process improvement and automation initiatives. The role carries real operational authority to improve workflows, modernize fabrication processes, and build a high-performance team. Accountabilities: • Lead and manage daily production across fabrication, fitting, welding, blast, and paint operations, ensuring schedule, quality, and safety commitments are met., • Provide direct leadership to a construction team, including coaching, performance management, workforce planning, and skills development., • Develop and execute construction schedules, capacity plans, and labor forecasts, tracking efficiency and driving accountability at the shop-floor level., • Identify, justify, and implement automation and capital improvement initiatives (e.g., robotic cutting, automated fabrication systems) to improve throughput, consistency, and safety., • Establish and enforce production discipline, standard work, and repeatable processes across all fabrication activities., • Champion safety leadership, enforcing HSE standards, leading incident investigations, and promoting a proactive, zero-incident culture., • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, including internal audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities., • Use data and operational metrics to drive Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts that reduce waste, shorten cycle times, and improve overall shop performance. Required Knowledge/Experience: • 8+ years in heavy fabrication (structural steel, enclosures, modules, vessels, or similar), • 3+ years leading production teams of 15+ people, • Working knowledge of Lean principles and production scheduling systems, • Strong safety leadership track record Preferred: • Demonstrated labor efficiency improvements (15%+ reduction), • Hands-on automation experience (robotic welding, nesting software, etc.), • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, and OSHA 30 90-Day Deliverable Within your first 90 days, you'll assess current operations and develop a roadmap for labor efficiency improvements—we'll support you with data, resources, and executive alignment. Qualifications • 8+ years in heavy fabrication industry (PDCs, switchgear enclosures, offshore modules, pressure vessels, or similar), Required., • 3+ years of progressive leadership experience, Required., • Demonstrated success achieving 20% labor-hour reduction in operations generating $10M+ annual revenue, • Hands-on experience with automation technologies (nested programming, robotic welding, or automated finishing), • Proven ability to lead safety performance improvements (e.g., reducing TRIR from 3.0 to 1.0) Education /Preferred Certifications • High school Diploma or GED, Required, • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt (Black Belt program available through company sponsorship), • Lean Manufacturing, • OSHA 30-Hour or higher certification, • CAPM or PMP, • Advanced proficiency in production scheduling tools (PlanetTogether, Siemens Opcenter, Katana, etc.) Work Environment & Physical Demands • This role will work in an office setting with frequent visits to the production floor are required to oversee operations, ensure compliance and safety standards, and engage staff., • Mobility: Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs., • Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls., • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items up to twenty-five (25) pounds. All lifting should be done following OSHA standards., • Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members.
