Job Description This position directs the Maintenance Department to support the manufacturing facility and manufacturing/corporate offices. This includes coordinating all functions of the department, providing cost efficient maintenance services to Operations and assuring all processing/equipment is safe and reliable to efficiently maximize production and meet quality requirements. Duties and Responsibilities: • Responsible for the Engineering Director position in their absence., • Responsible for all maintenance shifts by using positive leadership skills and high visibility, motivates employees to achieve departmental and facility objectives, while following Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, Safe Work Practices along with established Quality and HACCP practices to ensure consistent operations support., • Lead and develop the maintenance shift supervisors., • Develop and manage an effective Preventative Maintenance Program – utilize the most optimum preventative maintenance practices, effectively and resourcefully maintain all equipment in a productive and safe working condition., • Develop and implement a long-term maintenance strategy for the facility., • Maintain building, facility and areas of direct responsibility in a sound clean condition suitable for the handling of food and food products., • Develop, train and orient mechanics and maintenance employees to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures., • Supervise employees in a union environment following the CBA. Administer disciplinary process in a timely and equitable manner. Confer with Human Resources on employee issues grievances, etc., • Establish and implement developmental training programs for department employees – provide trained coverage in all maintenance areas, maintain cross training to give a broad skill set, continuously upgrade training in maintenance., • Collaborates with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment., • Determines department and work priorities; oversees repair, maintenance, and installation of equipment to ensure continuous improvement and uninterrupted production., • Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards., • Manage the requisition of parts, tools, equipment, and supplies required for efficient operation and uninterrupted production., • Develop an employee structure to ensure that the maintenance department is adequately staffed to provide suitable coverage for all foreseeable situations. Reduce downtime. Maximize run time., • Directs and coordinates activities of mechanics and workers engaged in repairs, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in maintenance of buildings, grounds, effluent pre-treatment, powerhouse, and utility., • Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, refrigeration or air required for operations., • Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with Engineering, Technology and the VP Manufacturing., • Prepares department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget. Utilize budget control of department operations – maintain costs of maintenance within budget targets., • Ensures compliance with company, federal, state, city, OSHA, EPA, etc. regulations, • Takes an active role in Capital planning for the facility., • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals, contractor agreements, purchase agreements, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations., • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals., • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of directors, managers, customers, contractors, and government agencies., • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations., • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. The Maintenance Manager is exposed to customer and product information on a consistent basis. A high degree of confidentiality is required in this role. Management Responsibility The Manager, Maintenance works under the general direction of the Plant Manager and manages Maintenance Supervisors and Maintenance Mechanics. Work Environment While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Shift: 10 hours 6a – 4pm Mon-Fri On Call 24/7 Pay: $93,206 to $130,489 a year* • The salary range listed for this position represents the good faith and reasonable minimum and maximum pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, training, knowledge, education, and overall qualifications. The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package.
